[Updated] Thank you for your sincere reply and for acknowledging the issues I experienced. I appreciate the hotel’s commitment to improve and your thoughtful handling of my feedback. This response makes me feel my concerns were genuinely valued, and I look forward to seeing even better service in the future. I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding our recent stay at your hotel. We booked a triple room as listed on your website, which clearly stated it was a double room with an extra bed. To confirm this, we even contacted your hotel in advance via email and received a reply stating that an additional sofa bed would be provided for the third guest.
However, upon arrival and check-in, we discovered there was no extra bed prepared in the room. When we brought this to the attention of the front desk, we were simply told to wait 30 minutes while they “arranged” it—despite the fact that it should have been prepared ahead of time based on our reservation and prior communication.
As it was already past 9:00 PM and we had not eaten dinner, we asked if there was a place we could sit and eat our takeout meal while waiting. The staff only offered us a drink voucher and directed us to the lounge bar, where we were told we could wait—but not eat. No light refreshments or alternative accommodations were offered, and when we asked if there were any other possible solutions, the staff simply shrugged and said that this was the only option.
Even when one of our group suggested an alternative—switching to two double rooms instead—the idea was dismissed with a generic and unhelpful response. The staff seemed more focused on delivering scripted apologies rather than genuinely trying to solve the problem.
Eventually, when we returned to the room, we found that although a bed and blanket had been added to the sofa, the room still lacked a complete set of amenities for the third guest: no additional towel, slippers, or cup were provided. This clearly reflects a rushed and inattentive preparation.
In addition to the issue with room readiness and lack of initiative in service recovery, there were serious communication barriers. The front desk manager appeared to speak neither English nor Chinese fluently and made no attempt to use a translation tool to facilitate proper communication. This placed the burden entirely on us, as guests, to find and use a translation app just to be understood—an unacceptable expectation for international travelers. This experience has caused great inconvenience and disappointment...
Read moreWonderful stay and conveniently based nearby the Fukui Station with just a few minutes walk from the station. It is also perfectly stationed nearby a wonderful set of shops, restaurants, and gift shops to bring with you back home. The entrance is on the 3rd floor of the Fukumachi Block, and check-in is on the 16th floor.
The staff are amazing. As soon you walk in you are warmly welcomed and are quickly checked in. If you have Marriott status of Platinum and above you will have the option for free breakfast for yourself and one other person and it is definitely worth it for the breakfast. We were luckily upgraded to their suite room on the 23rd floor. The views from any part of the building are amazing and if you have a suite you have multiple views of Fukui. The room we stayed in included a Nespresso machine, two bottles of water and a local treat that was amazing. They have all you would expect from a room. Something that was unique in the suite that we haven’t seen before is the facial products. They also have very comfortable pajamas and some standard room slippers.
The breakfast was a wonderful spread and is a quick intro to all the local Fukui cuisine. We especially enjoyed the local soba, fresh squeezed orange juice machine, local natto, steamed vegetables, and the healthy spread of salad and fruits. The dinosaur fried chicken nuggets were a fun nod to the local city and its focus on the dinosaur museum in the area
The gym was a good size to get a decent workout in, and it has wonderful views of the train station. They also had fresh fruit of oranges and bananas available.
I would definitely recommend this hotel, and would stay here for at least 2-4 nights to soak in all that Fukui has to offer in terms of food, history, museum, and local shops. We definitely plan on visiting again. Thank you...
Read moreI had a fantastic week-long stay at Courtyard Fukui. Every staff member I encountered went above and beyond to make me feel at home.||The hotel has a pleasant, light scent, similar to a softly fragranced candle, and its location is incredibly convenient—just steps away from Fukui Station with plenty of shopping and dining options within walking distance. The hotel bar is wonderful, with talented bartenders. I especially loved Toshihiro and Mikki, and their cranberry juice with fresh cranberries and mint quickly became a favorite.||Now, let’s talk about the room accommodations, which I noticed no one has mentioned in the reviews. I stayed in a king-sized room, and when I first walked in, I was blown away by the stunning view of Fukui. The bathroom was equally impressive, featuring a shower with a lookout point for those who appreciate a view while showering. The amenities were top-notch: hand soap, lotion, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, hair combs, Q-tips, bamboo towels, and even toothbrushes with toothpaste. The room also provided comfortable slippers and pajamas, a steam iron, and plenty of water, tea, and coffee.||The first floor of the hotel houses a grocery store and over 12 restaurants, making it incredibly convenient for meals. Overall, this has been my best hotel experience, not only in Japan but anywhere. ||If I ever visit Fukui again, I would only stay here. In fact, this stay made me want to move to Fukui! ||Across the street, I found a vegan restaurant and took a soba-making class, both of which made my trip even...
