Fukui city itself is s a quiet city. There is not much to see in the city so you may have to go to Echizen and Sabae for activity. The Dormy Inn premier is located about 10 minutes walk from JR station in a quiet street. We needed to park our car near the hotel but the ground parking is not available, the hotel has a multistorey vertical car park available for Jpy2,000 a day.||The check in was smooth and easy. Room was quite standard Dormy Inn, not very spacious, just enough for a short stay. The hotel gives you perks like free coffee in the lobby, ice pop, yakult drink in the public onsen area, soy ramen as late supper, pudding in the mini bar. People would really enjoy such treats. There are a few restaurants nearby, including sushi, traditional Japanese izakaya. ||The public onsen is quite standard and not bad at all. The hotel also has free laundry service. Breakfast is standard with enough selection and can not said to be sumptuous. Overall it is a nice stay if you need a hotel...
Read moreOverall, this is a nice place- it is clean and well maintained. If you want a nice escape, then try the public ofuro (hot bath). If you are not familiar with this part of Japanese culture then please don’t pass it up! No one is checking out your parts, FYI- they just want to get clean and relax in a variety of hot and cold baths with some fresh air!
Regarding beds- they only give 2 pillows per bed, so when you have a family of 5 and 3 are in 1 room and 2 are in another- someone won’t have a pillow (dad). Also… if you are nearing 50 and have spent more than half your life dough hard things and sleeping in some unsavory places, then the bed mattress will wreck your back☹️ (thus the 3 stars for room).
The Japanese style buffet breakfast was tasty! You will have to hover over the Hokkaido cantaloupe melon if you want to ever get any (because other foreigners like to stack their plate with 4 pieces and be greedy)… but it is...
Read moreI paid about 150 dollars a night (parking, room, breakfast) for two people. The facility is nice and clean. Signs are in english, however I don't know how the staff is with english.
I wanted a great hotel to have a nice little vacation.i wanted to just sit in the sauna and relax! Nope. I have a 3" tattoo of a butterfly on my shoulder and only after I arrived and got a room key, did the paper say no tattoos. This has happened before, you can cover it up, and go to the onsen. Nope. "even with a seal (aka covering)", I couldn't go into the sauna or hot spring. This was a giant waste of money.
Hotels shouldn't try to accommodate with english and a "western" breakfast option, if they really don't care about accommodating real westerners.
Also, pillows were really hard, and I barely slept. But that was less important than being denied the only reason...
