Taisho Modern Villa Zen — Hotel in Hakone

I imagine that the house was once good, I emphasize: it was. in past tense. The noren (window papers) are mostly damaged. There are windows in the living room that don't even have glass and that makes the cold come in at night, even with the heating you can't stop the cold. The bathtub (which strangely is attached to the kitchen and separated from the rest of the bathrooms) also has no glass in the window and is exposed to the cold outside and that makes it very uncomfortable to shower since it gets very cold and also makes the living room not able to maintain the heat of the heating. The kitchen cabinets are all broken and the refrigerator is dirty inside, not very hygienic. In the same way that the number of garbage bags accumulated under the porch on the outside is not hygienic, I suppose they were from previous guests but when I found them I couldn't believe it, there could easily be more than twenty bags of garbage. The short dining table has a small hole in the middle, the sofa cover has also a small hole too. The wall on the living room has a slit. The garden seen in the photos no longer exists, since it is completely neglected and has become weeds. In the hall there are two big propane or gasoline bottles that fill the entrance with an unpleasant smell. It's really a shame because the house, as I said at the time, should have been once nice since it is beautiful antique villa, but it is completely neglected. We sent a message to the owner to let him know and he apologized for the “inconvenience” but reading similar comments from previous guests I don't think apologizing is enough, as he should be interested in maintaining the home he rents. Sadly I do not recommend this house since for similar prices there are better things. Also it has a very bad access for getting there with baggage . I feel bad having to post this but I just want to warn future guests not to expect to find what they see in the photos since this place is no longer in...

The worst experience in my life of traveling.

1. Location of villa which is hardly accessible to reach for average person with luggage.

2. Conditions. Villa in very bad conditions and looks like never repaired for last two or three years. See photos.

3. Insects. We found two cockroaches in the room where we were sleeping. See photos.

4. Windows. We had a windy night at villa and glass of the window wasn’t maintained well and was knocking all the night. It was horrible night to sleep.

5. Views. It’s different compared to photos that are listed on the villa’s listing. Of course there is no view to Fuji and never been. The host said that it’s ok to add such photos but this might be deceiving.

6. Garden. Host told me that it’s not listed among the villas facilities but it was in really dreadful conditions even to see. Like you are in abandoned farm house.

7. Neighborhood. It’s was ok, more or less quiet but literally around 7 AM two brush cutter started their job near the house.

My verdict - villa used to be good previously but now it’s in awful conditions. Think twice because this rating around 7-8 that you might see on Booking is only about the 2-3 years...

Imagino que la casa una vez estuvo bien, recalco: estuvo. en pasado. los noren (papeles de las ventanas) están dañados en su gran mayoría. hay ventanas en el salón que incluso no tienen cristal y eso hace que el frío entre por las noches incluso con la calefacción no se puede parar el frío. la bañera (que extrañamente está pegada a la cocina y separada del resto de habitaciones de aseo) tampcoo tiene cristal en la ventana y queda expuesta al frío del exterior y eso hace que sea muy incomodo ducharse ya que entra mucho frío y también hace que el salón no pueda mantener el calor de la calefacción. los armarios de la cocina están todos rotos y la nevera está sucia por dentro, no es muy higiénico. del mismo modo que tampoco es higiénica la cantidad de bolsas de basura acumuladas debajo del porche por la parte exterior, supongo que serán de huéspedes anteriores pero cuando las encontré no me lo podía creer, puede haber tranquilamente más de veinte bolsas de basura. la mesa del comedor bajita tiene un agujero en el medio, el cobertor del sofá tiene un agujero también. el jardín que se ve en las fotos ya no existe, puesto que está completamente descuidado y se ha convertido todo en maleza. en el recibidor hay garrafas de gasolina que hacen que llenan la entrada con un olor desagradable. realmente es una lástima por que la casa como ya he dicho en su momento debió estar bien ya que es bonita, pero está completamente descuidada. avísame al propietario y nos pidió disculpas por nuestra “incomodidad” pero leyendo comentarios similares de huéspedes anteriores no creo que disculparse sea suficiente, el propietario debería tener interés en hacer un mantenimiento de la vivienda que alquila. tristemente no recomiendo esta casa puesto que por precios similares hay cosas mejores. me sabe mal tener que poner esto pero solo quiero advertir a futuros huéspedes que no se esperen encontrar lo que ven en las fotos ya que este lugar no se encuentra más en estas...
