Inatori Akao Hotel — Hotel in Higashiizu

I have mixed feelings about this hotel, but I can't say I particularly liked my stay there. It's a locally run property and they went above and beyond with renovations, but there is obviously a limit on what can be done when it comes to polishing a you-know-what. They have renovated the rooms, public baths, shared areas, spa, etc and did an amazing job, but the building is in hopelessly bad shape: elevators are tiny, halls are run down, even door frames are designed to average height of Japanese citizens in the 60's or 70's. Most foreign tourists need to duck down when entering the rooms. Then there is whole issue with entering the rooms. Welcome to 1980's, where they used keys chained to a wooden key fob, which you need to return to front desk every time you leave the property; only to have to stand in giant queue when you get back; kind of last thing you want to do after a day at the beach, which paints an impression to me that hotel management is not aware on how to run a hotel in 21st century. Card keys, mobile check in, spa reservation management -- all of this can be done with a simple swipe and implemented at fairly low cost. To be honest this is a big issue with tourism industry in Japan in general. For some reason they think that 80's technology is sufficient to manage 21 century expectations.

They also have weird fantasies regarding COVID. All staff is required to wear masks, they still have posters asking customers to do so, although most people don't, and also when they serve welcome drinks and snacks in the lobby they ask everyone to consume them in their rooms. ...

2020年9月27日(日)宿泊。 かなり長くなるので項目ごとに書いてみます。

・サービス 17時半まではロビーでビール・かき氷が振る舞われるみたいです。迷ったのもあり17時35分に着きましたが、既に終了されていて残念でした。電話でチェックインが17時半頃になる旨を伝えていたのですが……容赦がありません笑 ただ、接客自体は基本的には気持ち良い対応でした。 ビュッフェでサラダに乗っている卵だけ食べたいな～と呟いたのを近くにいたスタッフさんが聞いておられ、用意しますね！とわざわざ持ってきてくれました。 また、チェックアウト時も写真をお願いしたところ、快く引き受けてくださった上に、バイク2台だったので色んなアングルで撮ってくれました笑

・立地 グーグルマップの案内だと激狭で急な坂をくねくね上らされ、ホテルの裏に案内されました。北から来られる場合、135号から入ったら海沿いを通り、浜の湯を通り過ぎて坂を上った方が分かりやすそうです。事前に車で行く旨を伝えておけば駐車場を確保してくれるようです。バイクだったので入口前の屋根の下に停めさせてもらいました。 海がすぐ近くでロビーや風呂や部屋からの展望は最高でした。朝日を見たい場合、部屋からだと別のホテルがちょっと邪魔になるかもしれません。少し歩いて海まで出てみてください。めっちゃ綺麗です。ついでに竜宮神社を通り、どんつく神社、稲取岬燈台まで散歩がおすすめです。すぐ戻ってこれますので。

・ 部屋 和室12畳＋広縁の部屋でした。少し古めなのは否めませんが綺麗ですし快適でした。トイレもウォシュレットです。使っていませんがお風呂は小さめのタイル浴槽でした。 広縁に二人がけのソファが置いてあり、海を見てぼーっと過ごす贅沢な時間を過ごすことができました。コンセントは布団の近くじゃなかったので、延長コードの用意があるといいかもしれません。敷布団がトゥルースリーパーぽかったです。

・設備、アメニティ 部屋と貸切風呂と大浴場には化粧水・乳液・クレンジングとドライヤー、各浴室・浴場にはシャンプー・リンス・ボディソープ・メイクの落とせる洗顔料あり。貸切風呂と大浴場には綿棒・ヘアブラシ・ヘアゴム＆コットン。カミソリは大浴場だけだったかな？あと男性用の化粧品類もありました。歯ブラシは部屋にあるのみです。 各お風呂には給水器等無し。冷たいお水はロビーで飲めます。 2階貸し切り風呂の横では漫画や絵本などが置いてあります。

Had a very enjoyable and relaxing weekend here. The staff doesn't speak much English except for one employee but they made sure we had most of the information about the hotel that we needed. Unfortunately due to Covid we weren't allowed to use the hot springs but we still enjoyed our stay very much. Even though some of the usual hotel amenities weren't offered we knew that going in that it was going to be a traditional Japanese Hotel experience without WiFi in the rooms and futons and no microwave but that was all fine.
