I have a very mixed feeling with いなとり荘. My first visit was around Nov-24’ for two nights in 420 “紬”. The overall experience was superb, いなとり荘 became one of my favourite onsen ryukan in Izu. I liked it so much that I decided to take my parents with us for a second visit in Feb-25’. My parents stayed in 紬 and we stayed in 520 “晓”. However, this time the journey was filled with issues. First of all, both rooms have just lukewarm private onsen and shower water. The water it’s too cold to stay outside, I was feeling very cold with the shower as well. I later called the front desk about this and a staff was sent to the room to check but he could not do anything to change the temperature. The staff has a great attitude but this meant we lost one expensive night to enjoy the onsen. I later found that the duvet was too small for me with a height of 180cm. The duvet in 紬 is of normal size but mine is so small that my entire feet would be exposed. The same staff managed to find a slightly longer one from an empty room, but it’s an undesirable experience for such establishment. The staff promised me that he will speak to the manager about this. I went to the front desk in the morning and the staff explained that the water temperature was due to the cold weather (最強,最長寒波 to be fair)and they will increase the amount of hot onsen water. I returned with normal temperature onsen and shower water, the duvet was also changed to normal size. I was very happy with the change and felt the ryukan has redeemed itself, I wanted to leave an one star review during the first night but my thought changed to that I still feel this is one of my favourite onsen ryukan. However, when I was really tired and tried to sleep, I can clearly hear people talking behind the wall near my bed, at which point I suspect it’s the staff utility room next to my room. I was exhausted from many hours of driving and lack of sleep, but I still got out and found two staff seems to be working or checking on pipework, I had to speak to them and asked them to keep their voices down. The second morning, when I was relaxing in the room after breakfast, I can again hear staff making quite some noise when cleaning other rooms, it’s a bit annoying. Moreover, during the second dinner, a staff asked me what I would like to drink, I asked him if he had some recommendations for 甘口 日本酒, he just pointed the drink menu and let myself checking it out, the staff carrying coffee / black tea after breakfast splashed a lot of drink in the tray every time, it’s hard to see such behaviour. Overall, I still like the ryukan, but I do think it does need a major renovation of the facility and pay more attention to details, after all, both rooms are rather expensive. The front desk staff was apologetic about the lukewarm water in the first night during check out but that...
Read moreA absolutely stunning onsen hotel located just right by the sea and honestly you will not regret staying here! The hotel offers a free shuttle service that pick up tourists from the station and arrive to the hotel within a few minutes which is very convenient. (Be note the shuttle running times though)
My family and I were warmly welcomed into the hotel with a cold cup of tea and given a detailed guide of the hotel. The staff that served me could not speak good English but she has a translator gadget which works well, and she also showed us these yukata which hotel guests can choose for free.
Managed to book these two western rooms with balconies - Mirai and Tsukiha (would love to get the ones with private onsens but they were all reserved even we booked a month and half in advance). The rooms are both modern and spacious, offering a breathtaking view of the sea which one have to see in person to appreciate in full .
There are two public onsen baths on the 7/F which alternate between male and female-only and both offer nice views of the sea. Managed to visit one at night which has a open bath “Sora” overlooking the sea and a indoor bath “Kamone”, fortunately there weren’t many people so we got to enjoy the onsen baths in peace and the hot spring didn’t feel that hot in the open air. Not to miss the milk drink which are sold outside the onsen baths too! And we also booked a 50 minute session in one of the private onsen baths “Full Moon” which the bath is decorated with stone and a nice experience too.
Finally worth mentioning the dinner which my family got to experience in a private room, starting with a peach wine and had courses consist of fresh sashimi of local fishes, the red seabream which is a absolute delight, abalone and shabu shabu, ending with a nice dessert which I got to say is one of the best meals we...
Read moreWe travelled by train from Tokyo and were collected at Inatori train station. On arrival at the hotel we were shown a table in the reception area and offered complimentary refreshments. The hotel is not modern. The hotel is quite simple. The hotel is very comfortable and clean. The staff were all very helpful and educated everyone in our small team the correct Japanese protocol for using the excellent hot spring facilities, and dressing for dinner in the evening in the traditional Japanese wear including slippers which is provided by the hotel.||The food at the hotel was excellent. The standard of quality and presentation was as good as any Michelin starred restaurant I have ever enjoyed in Europe. The experience has completely opened my views on what good is and needs to be. I now eat sashimi on at least a weekly basis. ||I enjoyed walking around and discovering Inatori, the harbour, the Temples etc and found the locals to be friendly and helpful.||I have am delighted to heartily recommend this experience to anyone.||I wish that I could have spent...
