Pros: ||||Famed for its powdery snow for skiing, this off-the-beaten-track hotel is a scenic sanctuary even for those who only want a good repose and an onsen stay. It exudes an old-world charm, complete with a fireplace, and a somewhat formal and restrained welcome from two distinguished septuagenarian males on reception duty - probably owners of the establishment. There are a significant number of older workers, who are robust and nimble, and occasionally, one can see them quietly and steadily chopping up firewood and tending to the fireplace - the very picture of Japanese steadfastness, tenacity and longevity.||||This hotel also serves as a good base for exploring the Daisetsuzan National Park and Mt. Daisetsu. If you are a meditative person looking for some light exercise, you will enjoy the easy walk up a little hill - this path is at the back of the hotel near the carpark. We also explored the beautiful grounds of nearby hotels.||||Needless to say, the century-old indoor onsen baths are the pride of the establishment, but the newer onsen area features a small open-air bath that visitors may prefer. All of the onsen baths are perfect to while away the hours.||||Food was top-notch, delicious and worthy of a Michelin mention. The ingredients were fresh and exquisitely-presented. While we were not fans of the deer meat shabu-shabu, the melon soup, abalone, coffee pudding and other dishes were tasty. If you are one for good conversations, you will also enjoy hanging out in a cozy lounge with complimentary drinks (self-service).||||Cons:||||Despite arriving in autumn, the mercurial winds brought about wintry weather and heavy snowfall. While it was initially magical, the weather did not improve during our 2-day stay. And the snow and poor visibility eventually thwarted our plans to take the gondola up to the mountains. Therefore, it can get a little dull after a while, since there isn't very much else to do inside the hotel, save for more onsen dips and shopping at a tiny store selling trinkets, jewellery and snacks. Do bring along some warm clothing for inclement weather and perhaps some books and games too. If you could afford the cost, we would recommend a longer stay. At a premium price, the rooms were also admittedly smaller than what...

We stayed at this hotel before going to Furano. ||||It took about an hour from the Asahikawa station,so the access was not good. The final start of dinner time is 6:30 p.m. ,so you should reach hotel beforehand.||||The dinner was excellent . The cold soup poured into the cutting half melon was very delicious. Of course you could eat juicy melon. Big abalone steamed in the salt dome was very tender. Most surprising dish was spring water jelly. I have never eaten such a dish. Shabu-shabu used deer meat was awesome. By and large, the quantity was just right.||||the hot spring at the hotel was very good. The water was flowing directly from the hot spring source, and because of the difficult access, it`s known as a preservation hotel of secret hot spring . There are two hot spring facilities ,so we can select which to get into.||I got into the 「water of gods」at night, and the 「water of Yukoman」in the morning.||Both of them are made of wood and tasteful. Open air water in the morning was feeling good.||||The environs around the hotel was nothing,so we had a good sleep.||||Next morning ,we had a typical Japanese breakfast.||That was awesome, too. Boiled tofu and raw egg mixed with white rice was impressive.||||My partner taught me that this hotel is a home ||of famous Japanese snowboard player , Tomoka Takeuchi.||I cheered her in the Sochi olympic,so we looked on the exhibition room in the hotel. There were many snowboard instruments ,used by her ,and moments in the room. The next winter olympic is coming soon,so I decide to cheer her more and more.||||This hotel was not near from the Asahikawa city, but the car drive to the hotel was scenery. ||On our back way,we took a photo at the lake of Chubetsu.||||We had a great summer...

Brought a family of 7 for a vacation. The experience here is amazing and exceeded all of our expectations. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The decor around the accommodation is handcrafted natural wood, you can see it in every corner here. The onsen here is amazing, with both indoor and outdoor onsen for you to try. The view of the outdoor onsen is just stunning. It is like you are part of the snow covered mountain. The food provided is really generous, we had bluefin tuna, wagyu, mackerel, and so much more. Our daily breakfast and dinner menu is specially curated by the chef for us. Seeing that they designed the menu in advance and prepared individually for each guest, you can feel the attention they put into each detail to make the experience great. The staff here is super professional and friendly, great job to the managers and front counter staff, the hospitality here is more than 5 stars. I will come back again for years to come. A big thank you to everyone working here!

Excellent! Highlights: Thoughtful and unique kaiseki meals, unlike any I've had before and really recommended! Helpful and friendly staff Spoilt for choice of baths, plus not crowded Very comfy futon Unlimited free mineral water Other great stuff: They had our room ready a little early The cafeteria area and fireplace were lovely to relax in Very easy to walk to ropeway and right by the bus stop Nitpicks: It's probably about due a little renovation Would have loved a more Japanese style dessert, not big coffee/tea fans so having those flavours on the side would have personally suited us better.

Historic onsen ryokan, located in the moat secluded area in Shiretoko. Stayed here for two days as a base camp for climbing Rausu dake etc. Onsen was a genuine one from the ground. You'll get warmed from inside. The portion of dinner was too big but somehow managed to eat them up. As I needed to leave early in the morning, had asked to change the breakfast to onigiri. The facility was way too rubbish and its supposed to be renovated, if the budget allows. If I were the owner I'm confident that I can change here more attractive place! This place has a huge potential..
