View is beautiful from the room and around area as well. But They call it 4/5 star property, and every corner of the hotel has advertisement about G7 summit happened in their hotel. But they don’t have a camera at their front entrance. If any mishap happens at their main entrance they can’t find it / see it through camera. Or at least they say that they don’t have a camera there.
It’s an extremely expensive property but service is poor. They are only for money making business and nothing else. Even after charging huge amounts for room they don’t have any amenities included in the free facilities to be used by the guest. They charge for onsen , they charge for table tennis etc etc.
Charging 2150¥ for onsen and 2000¥ for table tennis use was just unacceptable. We paid more than 72000¥ for just 2 rooms which doesn’t even serves free breakfast. At reception they said there is no Alakart menu option for dinner , n the starting price per person was ¥12-¥13k per person. But post dinner we went just to checkout the restaurant and saw there were Alakart menu available.
This is a huge property but they don’t have enough dining options to cater their international guest for a manageable basic vegetarian food option. And it’s located so aloof that you can’t even find many taxis / frequent buses after 6pm to go out for dinner. There are no konbini options in 1.5km radius except one limited option konbini inside the hotel building.
We wanted to use swimming pool, our kids were so excited about the swimming pool but it was in Maintanance.
We were 2 families together and somehow went for dinner outside and came back. At the entrance we stopped and went to our rooms. And realized that one of the phone was left in the taxi. We had searched the location of the phone by “find my phone application”. We requested to request police to help us find the phone. But they kept asking for a bill copy of the taxi. And we were standing there for almost one hour for this matter. Ultimately the taxi driver came and gave us the phone but we didn’t receive any support from the hotel.
We were kept telling the phone location but they were not bothered. They kept telling they can’t see the car number as they don’t have the camera at front entrance, I seriously wonder if some mishap happened during the G7 summit at entrance, they coin find it as they don’t have the camera at entrance.
Next morning I kept calling the hotel help desk for some information but nobody picked up the call.
Strangely they charge hand some money n don’t provide any service free, not the basic like services breakfast, swimming pool, onsen , table tennis etc.
My phone was lost on 14th September after dinner in taxi. We reached to the entrance of the hotel by taxi at 9.19pm (I made payment by my PayPay) but there is no security camera at...
Read moreI am SO disappointed in this hotel. The employees are rude, the hotel is so strongly outdated and the facilities ALL require extra fees that are not stated ahead of time while you are booking.||I arrived at Hiroshima station and went to find the free hotel shuttle. I arrived at 10:25 and the shuttle is scheduled to depart at 10:30. The bus attendant told me that the shuttle had dropped off at 10:20 then immediately left. So rather than a smooth transition to my stay, I had to pay to take public transportation which took an hour since the driver didn’t adhere to the schedule.||Upon arrival in the lobby, I was greeted by a very rude employee who would not allow me to check in because I was early. That’s fine, in understand, so I asked to use the pool or gym while I waited. I was told no, even though every other hotel I’ve stayed at in the 40 countries I’ve visited has allowed that. So, I had to sit in the lobby doing nothing for 1.5 hours. Upon checking in, I then found out that the pool and gym, the entire reason I chose this hotel, were extra. The pool would be 3500 yen (almost $25 US) per day and the gym would be 2100 yen per day (almost $15 US). This is RIDICULOUS. And these charges are not stated anywhere on their website or on Booking.com where I booked my stay. I was infuriated.||When I finally got to my room, it’s like I was transported back to 1975. The room was so old and outdated, the two sad twin beds were sagging. The room didn’t have any UBS ports because it hasn’t been renovated since the disco era. The room had scuff marks on the walls, the refrigerator didn’t keep anything cold and the linens were cheap and thin. I did pay the 3500 yen to use the pool once and I was given the thinnest, brightest yellow towel I’ve ever seen and given a plastic chair that was placed on grass. And this cost me $25 US dollars. Ugh.||The final straw was booking my taxi back to the station to leave Hiroshima. I needed to leave at 5 am, so the afternoon before at 6 pm I went to the Bell Captain who booked a taxi for me. Well, they called my room at 9 pm to say that they could not get me a reservation at the time because all of the taxis were busy, so I needed to get my own uber. Thanks for adding stress to my trip, only 8 hours before I needed to depart! And really, every single taxi in the city was booked at 5:00 am? I was so ready to get out of there!||All in all, I had a terrible experience at the Grand Palace, a name this hotel does not deserve. Yes, it was clean but that is the ONLY good thing I can say about this hotel. Do yourself a favor and NEVER stay here. Or if you do, just be ready to pay thousands of extra yen/hundreds of extra dollars to get amenities that other hotels include in their final booking price. This place and its...
Read moreI paid $301.30 AUD for myself for 2 nights (breakfast not included), which cost more than all the other hotels I've stayed in throughout Japan, but it did come with perks. This hotel has lots to offer, and services that I didn't know I would need were available to guests, and they were mostly free. For example, the shuttle bus from the hotel to Hiroshima station and back to the hotel. I took the shuttle bus to the station several times and it was always free, the bus even has plenty of room for luggage in the storage compartment so you don't have to sit all snug with your bags. The bus also has free wifi and charging ports. Ok, back to all the good things about the hotel. As soon as you approach the front of the hotel, staff will greet you and help take your bags inside. If you're early for check-in or you've checked out but want to go exploring, they will store your bags for you securely so you don't have to drag them around with you. There are shops throughout the hotel complex, and they even have a spa. You do, however, have to pay a fee to use those. The buffet costs 3,000 yen (30 AUD) per person but I highly recommend eating there at least once because the view from that the 23rd floor is astonishing, there is a variety to authentic Japanese food and western breakfast items available.
I was, however, disappointed that their pool is closed until August next year, and I found the dinner buffet to be a little costy per person. I also feel like for a hotel this nice, they should consider renovating the bathrooms. The bathrooms have no ventilation in them whatsoever and turn into a sauna whenever you shower. I also wasn't a fan of the toilet being in the same room as the sink and shower. They're still using a shower curtain which appeared...
