This was an EXCELLENT place - I feel very fortunate to have found it! The owner is very kind, friendly, and hospitable. He speaks English very well, which can be a plus if you don’t speak or know Japanese like me.
The location is very convenient to the Kai-Kozumi train station for those who are not traveling by car. It is a 5 minute walk although a very short section of the road does not have a lot of room or sidewalks. A car or other transportation would help though if you want to explore places in the region. I was lucky that the owner was available and kindly offered to drive.
The tiny home is clean, stylish, and well-designed. They have premium bath products and other accessories such as facial toner like in most Japanese hotels (but not American hotels). While it was hot outside, the tiny home was quite comfortable with a cross-breeze. There is also AC/heat depending on the season. Plenty of outlets and WiFi was reliable enough for me to do a little work even thought I was supposed to be on holiday.
I really enjoyed the food! I had the best BBQ, all with locally sourced food. The coffee was really good - and I’m from Seattle!
I really recommend this place especially for tourists who are looking to experience nature in Japan that is other than Mt. Fuji. The Yatsugatake mountains are so beautiful. I can also see this place as a great location for a small retreat. I came here for rock climbing and hiking, and I will definitely stay here the next time I am...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Tiny Hotel — a fully-equipped stylish mobile home — for 3 days (2 nights) in late January/ early February to celebrate our wedding anniversary and it was one of the coolest experiences we’ve had!
The Nomad is very easily accessible by train (a 5-minute walk from Kai-Koizumi Station) which was perfect for us with all the heavy camera gears we brought for bird-watching.
The place is very well-managed and clean. We both loved sitting out on the deck to have breakfast in the morning or just simply enjoy the breathtaking view with a cup of hot coffee in hand, even if the temperature was around minus 8 at the time! Since January is the off season in the area and many restaurants are close for a couple of months, we opted for the barbecue dinner and it was worth every penny. The food they served were all locally sourced and were of very high quality. We ended up inviting the owner, Ohno-san, together for the barbecue and we had such a great time!
Ohno-san was absolutely the best host we could ask for. He was very attentive and friendly and would even go the extra mile to look up spots around the area that accessible enough for my husband and I to go bird-watching.
We hope to visit The Nomad again in other seasons and we would definitely recommend the place to couples or family looking to stay at somewhere different and with lots of...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed here in early November. We had a great time. There are 2 tents and 1 cool looking, designer cabin and the rest of the land is open field space edged with trees and so it feels quite exclusive.
The tent was fantastic; double bed, fridge, heater, humidifier - it had everything. The BBQ food was locally sourced and everything was quality including the morning coffee.
The toilets and showers are high standard and stylish (hairdryers, hand soaps and all the things you would expect in a new, modern hotel).
A lot of attention to detail, the owner has thought about everything. We recommend NOMAD and...
