Impeccable service, delicious food, prime location, sublime baths, and fabulous views. The service here was so great. I was delayed by several hours, so I can't give my opinion on the dinner, but the breakfast was absolutely scrumptious, with self-service coffee or tea. Although I missed the check-in time by an hour (delays), the front desk was incredibly accommodating when I called to explain the issue. I mostly used Japanese with them, but from what I overheard their English skills are passable and they should be able to communicate clearly about hotel policies and the local area. The hot-spring baths are small, but the hotel also offers the option of a private bath. I didn't get the chance, but I did try both of the public baths during my stay. I preferred the bath with a rotenburo outdoor bath (Yama no Yu), mostly because that's my personal preference, but both bath areas (Yama no Yu and Ishi no Yu) were neat and clean and in both the evening and morning I was fortunate enough to have them all to myself for the entirety of my bath. The photos are somewhat deceiving without scale, both are just about six feet across, so if there's more than five people in the bath at any given time it might start to feel on the crowded side. They have the public baths divided by gender, and switch them each day, so even if you only stay one night (like myself) you'll be able to experience both baths before you leave. I wish I could have taken pictures of the baths, both had lovely views of the tone river. I also had the opportunity to stay in a room with a view, which was spectacular. I wish I could have stayed another day, as my balcony would have been a lovely place to sit and enjoy the autumn foliage while sipping on a local Okutone (okuto-one) Brewing Co. beer and being lulled by the soothing tones of the rushing...

Stayed at micasa for 2 night and it’s amazing experience for staying in ryokan. Here’s my review

accessibility: micasa can be reach by bus from jomokogen station or by train from takasaki then minakami station. The ryokan offer shuttle from and to station

room : we booked the smallest room but it not small, it quite wide and in out room, they have a small toilet, sink with amenities and even face mask. They also provide loungewear and hanten (indoor coat)in case still feel cold.

cuisine : we booked half board package so it include dinner and breakfast. Because this is my first time stayed at ryokan I amaze with the food that serve, both the quality and amount. All of them really delicious and came with small portion but a lot of option.

staff : staff really nice, some of them can speak english but some not. But they really helpful even we had language barrier

onsen : they have 3 onsen : outdoor, indoor and private onsen. We booked for private onsen and it really nice to bathing in the middle of winter. Very nice experience

Overall I really satisfied with my ryokan stayed...

Most most beautiful experience ever had before in a hotel!!! Host was lovely and very helpful, kind, he was offering free transport to bus station all the time and he had drove us to snowboarding areas too. I felt I was at home, not in another country. Room and the whole complex is super super clean and quiet!! Location is the best, perfect river view from our room. We have tried other hotels in the same town, nothing like MICASA, we are absolutely satisfied and enjoyed every single second being there. The greatest is the food cooked by the host, we have traveled Japan major cities for 13 days before we arrived MICASA, we have to say we had the best Japanese food in MICASA. Can't explain enough how awesome this place is. We already miss MICASA and the host who is the most caring person ever. Definitely going back visiting again. Wishing we have a little one soon so we can go back visit MICASA, the host and...

Love this property. It’s more on the traditional side but the room was large and the onsens were amazing. The highlight for me was the food. Highly recommend opting in to include the half board. The food was all home made and so good. It felt never ending as they give you around ~13 different types of food. The onsens change for male/female per specific time but I usually had them all to myself which was nice. The hotel is on the smaller side but definitely worth the price. It was beautiful when it snowed! It’s a ~15 min walk from Minakami station and a free shuttle back. You can also reach out to them before to request pickup.
