Although this hotel doesn't have its own beach, the service definitely makes it up.||||The front desk manager Mr. Matsuzaki Setsuo speaks English and can give a lot of travel info including suggesting routes and time tables.||||Before we were able to check in the room, we decided to go for some sightseeings. The front desk manager then offered us clean hand towels and sun hats for the outings and checked the tidal times for us for our visits.||||When we came back, he already moved our luggages to our upgraded ocean view room.||||With this view, we were able to see the sunrise the next morning at around 5:10am, and the schools of flying fish. Some guests chose to watch the sunrise up on the top floor ||onsen, which opens at 4:00am to make this possible. It made up for the corridor's being a bit old, despite the rooms and the waiting area were tastefully decorated.||||The vanity desk shows a display of shesido skin care products, and is by the balcony so you can see the ocean view reflection at the same time. The room is a tatami Japanese style which is very appealing for us who are interested in their cultures.||||Because the dinner tables were all reserved by other guests, the front desk manager then called a taxi for us and recommended us a Japanese seafood restaurant near the Ibusuki train station.||||The buffet breakfast has a variety of local and western food, although more Japanese food, which were very interesting.||||He also helped us plan the next day activities, which were wonderful and when we arrived back at the hotel lobby to pick up our luggages, he offered us in the bar, ice creams, to wrap up our day, before he arranged another taxi, and waved us goodbye when we headed back to the train station to return to Kagoshima.||||The staff really made us feel very well treated and welcomed, and made our activities very...
Read moreDuring our trip, we went to Ibusuki and stayed in this hotel. Our room has a balcony with a sea view which is nice. There is a bath tub facing the sea view which we did not use because we used the hot spring spa downstairs. Unfortunately the air-conditioner is not working very well and we felt rather warm. In addition, although the toilet room is isolated from the washing sink area, it is rather small and you need to squeeze in and out. I sincerely think that the hotel should simply enlarge the whole toilet since there is a main door to these 2 areas: toilet/washing sink and within, another door to the bathing area. There is no internet in the room which is understandable. We tried out the sand bath the first time which was just next to the hotel which costed 1000 yen per head. It was really hot especially with the hot summer temperature but it took away your weariness by sweating a lot. The dinner was served in the dining hall and frankly, comparing with all the hotels we have stayed during our trip, was not as delicious. All the food were ready and served lying on the empty dinner tables with names of the guests who are yet to come. Therefore the earlier you go and have your dinner, the fresher you will feel the food is. Breakfast was better because all the food were served in buffet style. We did not use the small indoor swimming pool but we saw many kids having a good time there, splashing and swimming. The staff is very helpful though with very limited English. They are really very polite and cheerful and willing to help. It will be very convenient stay for those wanting to use the sand bath in the hotel at the...
Read moreThe staff are very friendly and polite. My low mark for service is because coffee and food are unavailable on site after 9a and EVERYTHING--the restaurant/cafe, shop, and even the on-site onsen--is closed until 3p! This inconvenience is magnified by the fact that in this sleepy locale, nearby businesses where one might get food or coffee during the 5-hour dead time are only sporadically open themselves. The room (tatami ocean view) was spacious and comfortable EXCEPT for the sleeping pads, which are very thin and offer next to no padding. The pillows are also like rocks, so we were very happy to have our own travel pillows with us. Finally, as their website is silent on the issue, it is worth noting that the on-site onsen is NOT TATTOO-FRIENDLY. My husband was able to enjoy the beautiful facility; I was not. Fortunately, there are tattoo-friendly onsen nearby, within 5-7 minutes walk. That said, had I known of their policy ahead of time, we would have stayed elsewhere. There are 2 small electric bikes for rent. We enjoyed those for an afternoon. Finally, visiting the bar downstairs (open 8p-12a) is a must. The bartender is an absolute pleasure and we thoroughly enjoyed...
