The first thing that caught our attention upon entering the room was an unpleasant smell, reminiscent of something rotten. After checking the apartment, we discovered the odor was coming from the refrigerator's condenser tank, where something had decayed. We resolved the issue immediately by locating the source through "following the smell." Another disappointment was the quality and type of tableware provided. Having traveled extensively, I have never encountered plastic tableware in a vacation apartment. The plates, bowls, and other utensils were similar to items found in 100 Yen Shops, which felt like a bad joke. Additionally, dining was inconvenient due to a very low table and chairs that were far too high, forcing an uncomfortable posture. The furniture, clearly designed for outdoor use, was impractically placed indoors. We were also surprised by the allocation of our room. Despite a long stay, we were given a corner room on the lowest floor with the worst view—directly facing Mr. Nakamura’s workshop, specializing in painting exteriors. Watching their daily operations was far from relaxing. The comfort level also left much to be desired. The building's construction lacks soundproofing—you can hear conversations and footsteps from above. When neighbors use a gas dryer, the noise is loud, especially at night. Loose aluminum balcony railings cause constant noise in winds over 30 km/h (common on Ishigaki) and are unbearable during typhoon winds. This is unusual, as I’ve stayed in various properties on Okinawa and never experienced such issues. The higher the room, the louder the noise becomes. Cleaning was another problem. It started as early as 8:00 AM, with staff loudly moving furniture across the floor, creating scraping noises. Want to sleep in? Not in this hotel. Reading so many positive reviews, I was shocked by how disappointing this stay...
Read moreLoved my stay here. The facility is located on a residential side street and the neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. The main road where the bus stops are is within walking distance, although I recommend renting a car if staying here as it makes sightseeing much easier and enjoyable. There is free private parking on site subject to availability, there were always plenty of spots during my stay. Donki and other shops are located close by on the main road. A bit further down the main road, there are plenty of supermarkets and other stores. The apartment was spacious and had all the amenities I needed, including laundry detergent. Everything was working properly, including the wifi. Additional amenties can be found on th ground floor such as bath robes, rubbish bags, shower caps, etc. This place has everything you need for your stay. I felt truly at home and enjoyed my time in Ishigaki.
Beware that there is no staff onsite. To enter the facility, you will receive instructions and access codes. I had no issues, but not tech savvy guests may face difficulties. Not a complaint but couple of luggage racks would be...
Read moreStayed 7 nights in April 2021. Very satisfied. Room was very very clean. The only problem was dust coming in from outside via air-con. Check in and check out is contactless and safe for corona. Washing machine and dryer included in room, so you can reduce the amount of luggage you bring. The room is only cleaned once a week - you have to choose the day for cleaning and leave the paper at the front desk. Otherwise wash the towels by yourself. Hotel is 3 minute walk from the bus stop. You can take either number 4 or 10 bus from the airport and get off at “Yaeyama Godochosha” stop for 440yen. If you book a tour via the ferry companies, you can get pickup included if you walk to the nearby ANA hotel, about 10 minutes. Lots of shops within a 10 minute walk. Very good price for 7 nights - you could use these savings to rent a car for sightseeing...
