Sandansu Resort Izukogen Anekkusu — Hotel in Ito

Overall, pretty good. The place is in a pretty spot and the room was really big for the price. The onsen was awesome. They also had free massage chairs. There are a lot of communal areas. It definitely has good bones.

The staff was excellent and attentive, and pickup and drop off at the train station when coming and going was a nice perk.

I felt it could use some renovations and didn’t really look like the pictures. It would really benefit from some new carpet, paint, furniture, light switch panels, etc. Even some minor stuff would go a long way. It looks like it hasn’t really been maintained or updated in 15 years.

The other thing that bothered me was the amount of single use plastics from eating breakfast. For whatever reason, they insist you take your breakfast to go and eat in your room. After every breakfast, we’d wind up with a large picnic basket full of garbage - it felt pretty bad.

One other issue I noticed is that our room had no shower, so you had to use the onsen. The onsen is closed from 10am-3pm, meaning you cannot shower from 10am-3pm. Also, they don’t allow tattoos. So - you simply cannot shower if you have a tattoo? Odd, maybe there are other rooms...

We stayed here for two nights, and despite the bad weather we managed to have a good time. The staff was super friendly and accommodating, picking us up from the train station, and dropping us back off at the train station.

It's not super walkable but we managed to bus and walk fine.. a car would definitely be better.

Note that there are two Sundance Resorts nearby!! so be careful to navigate to the right one.

The hotel did have a very quiet vibe, there was only 8 or so rooms and maybe only 4 being used while we were there, so it was extremely quiet.. almost too quiet. Onsen was nice and underused. Sadly we didn't get much view from our room due to the rain, but the hotel also has umbrellas that...

Location: good locatoin for visitng Mt. Omuro since it's just a 10-minute drive there. But Googe Maps indicated a wrong locatoin for this accomodation so we drove to the wrong place that was a few mintues away from the correct place. 2. Staff: they are very friendly and the tall old man speaks very fluent English and he gave very detailed instructions on bascially everything during our stay. 3.
