Livemax Resort Kofu — Hotel in Kai

I booked two rooms at HOTEL LiVEMAX BUDGET Kofu via Trip.com and received a message from the hotel only 8 minutes after confirmation, informing me that the onsen (public bath) is completely closed due to renovations and that loud construction noise would occur from 8:30 to 17:00 daily. This construction had already started days earlier (April 14), yet no warning was shown on the booking platform.At that point, we had already arrived in Yamanashi, and it was too late to find another hotel. The staff offered no compensation or support, only saying that cancellation was possible—which was not realistic under the circumstances.This kind of delayed disclosure and lack of transparency is unacceptable. Very old, shabby and rundown place. Hard to reach and quite remote, still next to a big highway. Built somewhere between the 60s and 70s, probably wasn't renovated since. Very little light installations, mold in the bathroom and icky duvet and curtains. We had a room that was one a smoking room, still reeked of smoke. Dirty carpet, fridge was either a freezer or off, was quite loud. Onsen is nice on principle, but very very run down. Be aware of splinters in the bathtubs. The room was big but it was one of the oldest shabbiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The ventilation holes had so much dust, it was disgusting. They still use actual keys instead of cards, I haven’t seen this in a while. In order to get the power in the room, you need to insert your key in the wall and switch. It was quite fun to engage in this ancient technology. I’m giving them 4 stars for location just because they have free parking.
