I spent five nights in the Kakegawa Grand Hotel in September 2019. The hotel is not too expensive but very close to the downtown and the train station. I saw the hotel as we pulled into the train station and I walked to dinner each night to a different restaurant. The Kakegawa Castle was a short walk to the end of the street. The hotel was clean and the staff spoke English with varying degrees of proficiency. Breakfast was good with plenty of western foods in addition to the Japanese items. While checking in, they already knew the hotel was a friendly and great place to stay, but on the night of December 4th around 11 PM, something incredible happened. My aunt accidentally dropped her hearing aid into the sink, but despite the late hour, the staff came to the room quickly and dismantled the sink to retrieve the hearing aid.
