The castle is a great place to visit, the architecture is nice. You walk through the different business, livings and supporting rooms, you see the original furniture and clothes of the Samurai fighters.
西の最終兵器西の最終兵器
掛川城二の丸御殿（掛川城御殿）は、静岡県掛川市の掛川城二の丸にある御殿で、藩主の公邸として、藩政を行う役所として、藩の公式式典の場として用いられた建物。現存する城郭御殿しては、京都府の二条城や高知県の高知城、埼玉県の川越城など、全国でも数箇所しかない貴重な建築物。謁見や執務室、目付・奉行などの役職の部屋など、それぞれ様々な用途に用いられるいくつもの畳敷きの部屋が襖で仕切られた構造で、書院造の木造桟瓦葺き平屋建て、総建坪は約287坪。 二の丸に建てられる前は、本丸に御殿があったが、老朽化などの理由によりこの二の丸に建てられた。現存の御殿は、1854年（嘉永7年）に発生した大地震で倒壊後、城主・太田資功によって、1855年（安政2年）から1861年（文久元年）にかけて再建されたもの。 掛川城の廃城と同時に御殿は勤番所と徳川家兵学校に転用され、さらに廃藩置県後に聚学校として使われた。その後、女学校、掛川町役場、掛川市庁舎、農協、消防署などに転用され、現在に至っている。 1972年（昭和47年）から1975年（昭和50年）にかけて保存修理が行われ、江戸時代の藩政や武士の生活の様子を今に伝える建物として、1980年（昭和55年）に国の重要文化財に指定されている。

The Ninomaru was a store house for weapons and goods at the same time it was the lord’s residence. It played a role in defending the Hon-Maru.
