Read moreStayed here overnight, in the cheapest accomadations possible with no dinner nor breakfast. The staff was nice and spoke abd understood a decent amount of english. The place might be difficult to find if arriving by car but it is right across from Amami station if arriving by train. You are reuired to take off you shoes and have them placed in a room next to entrance. You wear slippers around in the inn. You are then escorted to your room and receive an explanation about the accomadations and facilities. The onsens are all day all night except for the brief cleaning period from 9am to 11am. It was a bit smaller than i had imagined, and indoor. Supposedly it is suppose to be a radium onsen but to me it just felt like hot water. There are more expensive rooms where you can have a private onsen inside the room.the onsens you share with other people are about the size of a jacuzzi. You are not allowed to wear swimsuits but you are allowed to bring asmall towel in to conceal your privates if wanted, and to dry yourself off before going back to changing room after taking a dip. There is a garden and small stream around and behind the inn. It makes a decent morning stroll. There is a vendong machine in front the of inn for drinks and a few more at the train station 1 minute away. There is not much around the inn as it is surronded by a gorge so if you do not want the breakfast or dinner there whether it be the price or preference, buy something before making the trip here or eat before coming. Check in is at 3pm and you must check out by 10am. There is room service available by phone, just dial 8, and you can order a variety of food from the menu provided in your room. Stuff like udon or an omelet to congee etc. Room service stops at 10pm as the staff goes home. If you plan to check out be fore 8am notify the staff as the door will be locked and you cant get out nor will there be anyone at the reception desk to...
Read moreThe best way to experience traditional Japanese style ryokan.
If you're looking for a place to rewind, connect to nature and enjoy a relaxing hot-spring bath tub as well as experience delicious traditional Japanese cuisine. Then, this is a perfect pick for you!
Me and my sister stay there for one night. It was truly a HIGHLIGHT of my trip to Japan. About the location: It fairly easy to get there. We jump on the train from Namba Station (Nankai-Koya line) and get off at Amami Station (around 40 minutes) the view from the train was amazing! When you walk outside of Amami Station, there's sign that lead you straight to the Nanten-en Ryokan (about 2-3 minute walk) It was surround by nature, very peaceful and the air was so fresh.
About the Staffs: Super super friendly, helpful, thoughtful. I can't praise them enough. Kindly, they show us our room, there was an old man (I guest the manager) who explained everything in detail to us from what time dinner and breakfast would be serve to how to use the hot-spring bath tub. They provided yukata as you arrived (super fun to wear BTW)
About the room: Very traditional Japanese style tatami room. We got the view of the garden which is beautiful. We loved every single detail of the room.
About the food: I highly recommend you include dinner and breakfast at your stay so that your experience would be complete. They served as 11 courses dinner (yep 11) they were small portions but we feel very satisfied by the end of the meal. Breakfast was amazing too it's traditional Japanese breakfast (It was like lunch for me to be honest) there was so many food.
About the onsen (hot-spring) Change room, shower room are so clean and tidy. The water feel super nice, temperature was just right. My skin feel so nice afterward.
Definitely come back and recommended to you friends and...
