I was on a solo Motorcycle trip in Japan in Sept 2016. I was riding westbound from Nikko and chose this hostel due to its amazing affordability as well as its location along my route.|| ||I arrived around 5 or 6pm. There was a little covered parking spot perfect for Motorcycles. Awesome!||The owner came out and greeted me. He was very friendly and spoke really good English. He was surprised to see a foreigner traveling Japan on a Motorcycle. We had a good chat.||||The Hostel is like a very large Cabin. A large family room with a train set is on the main floor and off to one side. The doors to it were closed. Looked neat though.||||Other end of the main floor has the bathroom with traditional Japanese separation of toilet and bathtub. (No western style shower. Not a big deal at all though) ||||I was informed that I was their only guest that day. (There goes the Hostel "experience" of meeting other travelers. lol) ||Bright side was I got an entire "dorm-style" room to myself, with 2 bunkbeds, large windows and AC. ||||The owner asked if I had brought any food. Having come via Motorcycle with limited luggage space I had not. (and my room rate didn't include a dinner) He was quick to find me options in town and I rode out and found some food. ||||I had a great sleep that night and I woke up early and checked-out easily. The owner even helped me find the best routes to avoid some potential rain....
Read moreThis is not an ordinary hostel, it is a home Mr Nakamura and his family have made me feel warm and welcomed. They look after and care about every guest who comes to stay with them. The foods they served are proper home cooked; excellent and delicious. With Mr Nakamura' s supports and helps, I was able to complete Shinetsu Trail within 3 days, what an amazing host he is. He generously shares his local knowledge with everyone to make sure you enjoy your time here. His passion of building train models is impressive, the display in the lobby is fascinating. It is a place you would love to come back...
Read moreNakamura-san and his family are so kind and generous - this is my husband's second stay the first being many years ago and we were recommended here by family. Generous and tasty homemade breakfast every morning, clean and open space with many books and train models and great conversation. We were given multiple car lifts to the train station which was much appreciated, as well as helpful advice on transportation. We will be back again perhaps in skiing season...
