I went to Kumejima by JAL package andd this hotel was one of three I could select. using TripAdvisor I chose this one as it was rated number 1.||Unlike the main island of Okinawa where there are plenty of tourists in summer, Kumejima is hungry for tourists, so the hotel makes efforts to be friendly and offer good service.||We were offered a free late checkout as our flight out was later the day. ||Rooms are very comfortable and clean. There is a way to adjust the air conditioning to the right temperature. There is also internet access from the room, which we did not use as we were on vacation. Breakfast buffet is nice, but not that great. Soft drinks are provided free 8am-2pm at the coffee shop.||Eef beach is a lovely beach but we cannot swim during low tide. Take this into consideration if you are beach lovers. The hotel specializes in diving and snorkeling.||Right at the exit of teh hotel there is a lovely outdoor restaurant called SURI PIISU (3 peace) that offers delicious Okinawa food for lunch and dinner at...
Read moreResort Hotel Kume Island was a huge complex that can probably House 10% of the island population. It felt almost abandoned while we stayed. While the resort grounds were kept well, the interior probably has not been renovated since the 80’s. The stale cigarette stench filled the hallways and while everything was functioning, the room was in a desperate need of some renovation. Puddles on the balcony never drained making it impossible to hang out on it. Luckily the beds were at least comfortable and the room was spacious enough for three. The pool looked great but it just never got warm enough for us to enjoy it. Worst part was the thin walls that didn’t stuff out any noise from the outside. Even with less than 10% occupancy, noise was an issue when kids from a floor below were being loud. Breakfast spread was good with lot of healthy options and local Okinawa dishes. The airport bus route stopping at the entrance was also a nice...
Read moreWe stayed here for our anniversary, and were given a great room on the 5th floor ! The staff were extremely hospitable and the hotel had a rustic feel. A convenience store and supermarket are just a 5 minute walk away , and the popular Eef beach is just a minute away on foot. Highly recommended if you're coming to Kume island and prefer staying somewhere private .
Plus the lunch at the restaurant was delicious ! The nature of Kume island is largely unspoiled , even when compared to the main island of Okinawa. You can really feel a sense of the Okinawan countryside when walking around the streets and roads.
A big thank you to all the staff and manager for making our 20th anniversary an...
