We stayed at this lovely ryokan at the end of August. It was not one of our planned accommodations but due to the typhoon more south we needed to change location and find a place to stay. What an absolute treasure it was and the staff were exceptional in every way. I arrived quite sick, caused by a virus I picked up in my travels. The staff immediately saw to my every need and expressed genuine concern and care, ensuring that I was comfortable. The owner (I'm sorry I have forgotten her name) she was so helpful as was all the staff, but the jewel was Wasim. The owner (a delightful kind lady) and Wasim gently approached me at breakfast and suggested I go to the nearby hospital to be seen by the doctors there. They rang ahead - Wasim drove me, waited for me and translated what the medical staff were prescribing from Japanese into English for me. Wasim was so respectful, patient and just awesome. I cannot express enough how grateful I was, and am for these lovely warm people. On top of that, our room was so comfortable, overlooked the river and the onsens were warm and ambient. As a vegetarian the cuisine was carefully prepared for me, delicious and I was so so pleased. I am not one to want so much attention and rarely sick (unfortunately hacking scary viral cough picked up in Tokyo) but this was an oasis in a storm for me. I highly recommend this ryokan to anyone wanting to experience the warmth and charm of local but also diverse staff as well as experience a lovely ryokan. Whilst the accommodation, the food, the onsens and the environment were all lovely and thoughtful, it was all the staff that made this jewel stand out far more than any other place in Japan that I stayed. Thankyou so very much from a...

We visited Hakkie two days ago. Thanks to Hakkei and the excellent service provided by your delightful employee, Waseem, Samilo...., etc. Waseem helped us to sort out the technical challenge issue which was the transportation. He was attentive and listened to all my concerns with a great deal of patience. He picked us up at Kurayoshi JR station with polite and helpful attitude and also reconfirmed the pick-up time and place before we came. ||||During our stay, we found those people working there not just simply providing high quality service and also with heart-felt service which made you feel you were respected. Not I only the dinner was delicious, the server, Samiko served our table with ready smile and care approach. The whole evening was delightful with her efficient and courteous service. All of us enjoyed the amazing meal as the food was absolutely scrumptious. ||||An other Japanese young lady ( very sorry forgot her name) ecorted us to our room with friendly attitude. The view in the room was spectacular which right opposite to the Yubara Onsen. The massage chair is the highlight in the room. We could see the hotel service had a great quality, both because of it's comfortable and appropriate facilities, as well as service and constant concern for our comfort. Their professionalism and enthusiasm promptly exceeded my expectation. Such a pleasant experience would be pleasure to refer to...

A charming traditional ryokan. Come here for an authentic japanese ryokan experience. My husband and I stayed at Hakkei for one night, driving from Kinosaki onsen. We were embraced with relaxing atmosphere, with great service - complimentary tea and sweet potato upon arrival. The staff gave great recommendations on things to do in the area, and provided us with a history of the area. They have a number of international staff who are highly fluent in english. The onsen is highly alkaline (9.6) and there is also a sauna! The private rooftop onsen is also stunning. The highlight was a mochi pounding event that the matron Hiroko held at night. Super fun and a great atmosphere that had all the guests involved. The dinner and breakfast incorporates over 60 different vegetables - the kaiseki was beautifully done, and so delicious. It was a feast for the senses!

We spent a couple of weeks traveling around Japan on motorcycles and found this gem of an onsen while riding through the area. We arrived after dark and it was a very chilly November evening. We were immediately greeted by some of the nicest people we met along the way and were quickly ushered in to warm by the fire and served hot tea. Many of the staff spoke fluent English and it was great to see such an international crew. The food was locally sourced and fresh. The chef served us some of the best food we have had in Japan. The onsen was equally amazing plus we had our own private bath on our patio overlooking the river. If you want a traditional Japanese onsen with 5 star staff, food and vibe then look no further. It is definitely worth the trip and we are definitely returning on our next Moto trip through this part of Japan.

Hokkei rocks! The warm omotenashi spirit is everywhere. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, especially the landlady. Old-style welcome and special surprise. Rabbit-themed decor is so cute. Great food, wonderful view and easy access to Sunayu open-air onsen next to river. Hotel’s onsen are wonderful too, overlooking the river and valley. Very comfortable room and bed. Staff is fluent in English. Thanks for such a memorable stay! I will return.
