I had a very positive stay at Hotel Myosin in 2025. I stayed for one week in one of the Japanese deluxe rooms. The room was very clean and spacious for two beds and a table in-between. There was plenty of mattresses so you could triple them up to make a soft bed. The room also had a second area with a basin the could be closed off, and the room came with a toilet. Very good price for the room I thought. |Some parts of the hotel were coolish, however the main foyer was warm and the room warmed up well with the split aircon system. |The drying room was very spacious with designated shelves for boots and helmets etc which I thought was fantastic. Plenty of space for skis and boards in the board room. |Access to a waxing iron and bench to wax the skis or board would be a nice touch. There is room for this. |The onsen was clean and very warm. This can be privately booked at certain times, I felt this was not needed. It was never crowded. We were issued two towels each for the stay which was perfectly fine for a 8 day stay. |The location to town and the ski resort of Akakura Onsen was very convenient. Some restaurants were only a 100 meter walk away. With the base of the hill a quick 5-10 minute walk. If you want to ski Akakura Kanko there is a free bus down the road, or you can just pay the extra and ski both sides to the hill.|The breakfast was the same every day, But then again the breakfast at home is the same every day so no complaints there. Good touch having broccoli each day as it is hard to find healthy greens at the Japanese restaurants. |The staff were all very helpful and very pleasant, always there to help with taxis or information if needed. |All in all I had a great stay and will be booking for the 2025-2026 winter. |Thanks to...
Read moreAll the negative reviews are true. I stayed there for six nights. ||Upon arrival at the train station, there was no pick up. We had to wait more than half an hour for a taxi. Not a great way to start a holiday. ||Upon arrival and check in, one thing that struck me was just how cold the entire place was. The room was no different and the heater was old and weak. After multiple complaints, the owners finally turned up the heating and left them on. ||The onsen was small. The shelves in the male onsen had two(!) baskets and particularly bad were the old mirrors which had disgusting stains that looked like they were taken right out of a horror movie. ||The breakfast was the same every morning - scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and one special item. On one of these days, the special item was meatballs. On one morning, after the meatballs ran out, I asked the owner whether there were more and the reply was a curt “no”.||Slippers provided were old and too wide. Made climbing up and down the stairs a dangerous affair. ||When asked to order a taxi, the owners did not try booking a taxi again after the first try failed. Instead, the owners waited for us to come back before doing so. Great initiative. ||Looking around, there wasn’t a single japanese tourist in the hotel, which just goes to show that this place makes its money off unsuspecting international tourists. It’s like going to a Japanese restaurant with not a single japanese customer. You do so at your own risk. ||Suitable for those don’t mind roughing it out in the cold, are used to staying in hostels and don’t mind paying hotel rates for...
Read moreOverpriced Family room with ensuite.Very basic rooms with 2 holes in the wall and no fridge, minimal storage for clothing/luggage. Common areas not heated including Breakfast Dining Room. Breakfast is $15 per person and very ordinary - cold Porridge and Broccoli served with not enough stock of scrambled eggs, bacon, milk, juice.. Laundry doesn’t include a dryer. Airers provided in rooms. No discounted lift ticket vouchers as stated on website. Nick stated that website hadn’t been updated since COVID. Room was serviced once during our 11 night stay and Nick advised we would be told what day this would occur. This did not happen.Had to request extra Shower Gel, toilet paper and tissues on multiple occasions. Restaurant had a dinner menu advertised but 2 days into our stay there was a sign placed over it to say ‘closed for dinner’. Host Nick is unprofessional and lacks customer service skills, doesn’t have a good knowledge of the village and its restaurants, facilities. Didn’t know where the Myoko Shuttle departure point was or that you can’t buy lift tickets from rental shops unless renting snow gear from them. Very new restaurant with traditional Japanese menu has just opened 3 days prior to our stay and he wasn’t aware of where/who this was. Was overheard complaining to his staff about a guest who hadn’t booked parking at the hotel. He was really only concerned with guests wearing their slippers inside and keeping the doors closed to stop cold draughts and house rules. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel...
