I was going to go all out with a scathing review but held back because for the price it was good (Y3,500 pppn - 5 of us including breakfast).||Room was fine and spacious - two beds plus tatami area which could have slept more than our 3.||Someone mentioned lack of a mini-bar but there is a Lawson Convenience Store just around the corner to stock the fridge which is how I like it anyway.||Large public bathroom decent size.||Forget about dinner - so-called barbecue is indoor and at your table - didn't not smell nice. It is not long to drive somewhere so no big deal unless you want to drink. We had a great Hawaian takeout one night and had it on the beach.||Beach staff - one poser who reckons himself, says nothing, no smile and looks like a Yakuza. The female staff is beside herself with rules - you can't snorkel without a life jacket (need to rent of course) even though you can stand up to your waist for at least 100m out. We ended up walking across the small estuary to the next beach although when she was not around, there was a chiller younger guy as long as you entered the water 100m down the beach (left facing the ocean). ||Was very surprised that you had to rent the beach chair and parasol - other rentable items being volleyball and being taken on a tube (various but probably at a speed which would be for toddlers) or behind the driver on a jetski (seems like it is like that all over the island). Since the room was cheap, I suppose that they need to get the money back somehow but it kind of ruins it (add another Y500 to the price and include the chairs rather than incur the ill-will!) So the private beach was not as terrific as on the brochure but it was a nice view.||Breakfast was as low as the cheapest minshuku but, again, price was low (make your own coffee in the room or go out to a breakfast joint after). ||Wi-Fi only in the lounge area which was a bit cheap of them.||Front staff were polite and helpful.||Location convenient for what we...
Read moreA Review for Travelers Considering a Stay in Onna Village, Okinawa I recently stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days with my family (2 adults, 2 toddlers). The price was quite reasonable at about 90,000 yen, which I appreciated. Food I used the hotel for both breakfast and dinner (one buffet, one BBQ). The breakfast menu was pretty much the same every day, which was a little disappointing for a multi-night stay. I also wished there were more drink and salad options, as well as Japanese breakfast staples like eggs and natto. For dinner, the BBQ meat quality wasn't the best. The beef was tough, and considering the additional 3,300 yen cost, it felt a bit overpriced. However, I enjoyed the self-service teppanyaki station where you could make your own yakisoba and fried rice. If you aren't interested in that and just want to grill meat, you might find it underwhelming. There are many great restaurants in the area, so you might consider dining out. Room and Bath The room was very clean and well-maintained. The raised tatami area was perfect for spreading out our luggage and letting the kids relax. The balcony had plenty of space to dry wet clothes, which was very convenient after a day at the beach. The walls and doors, however, seemed a bit thin, as we could easily hear strong door slams and children's yells from neighboring rooms. The bathtub was a single, large tub, but the water temperature was quite hot at 39°C (102°F). The Beach The private beach was absolutely stunning and lived up to the hotel's name. The water was incredibly clear, and the variety and number of fish were outstanding. I personally thought there were even more fish here than at Gorilla Chop, a famous snorkeling spot. You could spend hours snorkeling. Just be aware that there is no shade, so sun protection is a must. The waves were a bit high, and there were some rocky areas, which could be a concern for very young children, but older kids would have a blast. For snorkeling, I highly recommend exploring beyond the central rock formation to find beautiful coral reefs. We were also lucky enough to see a massive school of small fish (maybe 1,000?) on the far left side of the beach, which was a truly moving experience. I would definitely consider coming back once my children are a little older and better swimmers. (Note: Life jackets are mandatory for...
Read moreDO NOT STAY HERE! Worse than a military barracks, no exaggeration! This may be the cheapest place for miles around but it is still overpriced due to the extremely low quality of the property. It seems like they stopped maintaining the property and are content to run it into the ground as long as they can trick people into giving them ¥16,000/night. No bar, no WiFi in room (even if you pay), doors falling off hinges tied up by ropes, outdated, TERRIBLE staff, room was dirty, knobs falling off appliances, it’s near NOTHING and there is nothing to do there! They charge ¥100 for an extra towel, ¥200 for a beach towel, only drinks for sale (including bottled water) come from vending machines on the first floor. They didn’t tell us the check out time but called us at 10:01 and shouted “Check out now! 10 o’clock, okay?” then they hung up. Went downstairs to check out at 10:12 and front desk was not manned likely because The same guy who called us was also cleaning the rooms. DO...
