Our party of four had two rooms on the third floor facing over Takayama. Staff were always friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable with adequate storage etc. and were spacious. The beds were quite firm, but still a comfortable night's sleep. ||||The bathroom is quite small, which wasn't a particular problem. The very high step into the bathroom was the problem. Easy to fall down it, on a middle of the night bathroom visit. Some people with mobility problems might well struggle to get in and out of the bathroom.||||The hotel provides Japanese style pyjamas for visits to the onsite onsen. We used the onsen both nights we stayed at the hotel, and found it very relaxing experience. The water is not from a natural spring though.||||The hotel is a distance from town, so you would need to utilise the shuttle bus service. We found that this was very handy and had no problems fitting in with the schedule.||||We ate at the hotel for the first night after a late-ish arrival, and found the buffet dinner quite adequate, although food is not kept particularly hot. The buffet breakfasts were also enough to keep us going for the morning. ||||Overall, we had no problems with the hotel. It was the best place we could find...
Read moreWe recently went on a group tour and spent two nights at this hotel. We also had a very smelly smokey room. We opened the windows at each end of the corridor and our room window, turned on the airconditioner and put the purifiyer on that is supplied in the room. This did help but as neither my husband or I smoke the smell was not very pleasant. We had asked for a non smoking room too but you don't always get what you ask for which I think Webjet should be more forthcoming in advising availability of rooms. The bathroom was very small, my husband is over 6 ft so we had a laugh. There is a free shuttle service to and from Takayama station but it does finish at 7.30pm so it would be a taxi back to hotel if you wanted to stay in the town later. The breakfasts were good and the staff friendly. Our room overlooked the carpark . We did have a couple of drinks and catchup with others from the tour bus on the steps outside the hotel. The hotel is a little out of the way and there are no little corner shops or anything close to the hotel. The views around the...
Read moreGreat service, and a nice view from some rooms. I would stay here again.
Just a couple minutes drive from the busy "main drag" but it makes you feel like you have stepped away from it, so you can relax.
A nice complimentary buffet breakfast. A very nice spread with a wide variety of western and Japanese breakfast items. We entered at 8:30, we're able to get up and restock from the buffet, and we were able let us stay past 9am to finish up. No, they did not throw us out, nor tell us we couldn't go back for more food. I was also able to get by fine with English and a little broken Japanese.
I don't know what that other guy (who was complaining) was talking about. I have no complaints about the service at all. It was really top notch.
If you are driving up, or don't mind using a taxi, I would recommend this hotel.
If you want to stay on foot, you had better stay somewhere nearer to the station. But with a car? Stay here. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but only 5 to 10-minute drive for all the...
