Ahchan — Hotel in Taketomi

I stayed one night here in a single room. There's a fan in the room. For air conditioning you need to pay 100 yen in the machine and it lasts 2 hours. I stayed early July but it wasn't too hot so only used for the first two hours before bed. You can rent a bycicle for 500 yen for the day. They don't have snorkeling kits for rent but if you ask them, they can show you where you could rent one. (Only one house away- walking distance). The dinner and breakfast are Japanese style and it's worth having them as you'd struggle to find food. There's only one shop and they don't have much there. If you're lucky and it's full moon, you could go to the beach which is 2 mins walk and you could watch crabs waking to the beach and laying eggs. Not sure if they do it each month though. Unfortunately, because of the full moon, I wasn't able to do stargazing but I'd return for that for sure. They pick you up and drop you off to the port for free. We used this accommodation for 2 nights from July 23-25, 2025. The owner of the inn is very warm and kind, and will go out of his way to accommodate the guests. We did the night tour to look for coconut crabs - highly recommend! You can also see many island animals and unique fireflies, crabs, etc. and you can very clearly see the stars at night! Also please pre-order the coconut crab soup at least 1 day in advance. This is a place where you can relax slowly. It is a simple inn, but it has everything you need. If you need to use AC, you must pay ¥100 / 90 minutes in your room. It is easy to communicate with the owner through LINE and he answered us immediately. We had no issues even though we don’t speak Japanese. He even caught fish for our dinner because we really wanted to have fish that we saw a picture of on the previous reviews. The meals were very delicious and made with love. I can’t wait to come back to visit him again!...
