The Suehero Hotel is located in the depressing Japanese town of Takikawa in Hokkaido. This place has a main street where many of its shops are closed and this even includes the multi-floor department store in front of the station and many of the restaurants and cafes in the city centre. In contrast though are the suburbs where there are many new houses and shopping developments.||The Hotel in many aspects reflects the town itself, good in parts but generally dingy. The external view is OK and is the largest structure around. It is about 5 minutes Taxi ride from the Railway station. The reception area is relatively large and featureless with some seating and drinks machines. The reception staff are always very polite, friendly and helpful.||A major minus in my view is that there is no bar in the place. Instead there is a beer machine tucked away on the 6th floor. This dispenses overpriced cans of local lagers. There is a fridge in the room but this is empty. The rooms are rather small, again dingy, with a miniscule bathroom housing a Japanese style bath. The TV had no foreign language programs but the WiFi was acceptable. The top floor (9th) was a restaurant having a panoramic view of the town but it looked as though it was some time since it had been used.||The saving grace of this hotel was its first floor restaurant. This offered a decent range of basic dishes of very good quality. The buffet breakfasts were good too although it was my first experience of cold fried eggs. The Coffee and the Japanese...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW after my 3rd visit to include 6 nights. I will definitely come here again. Great hotel for bicycle and motorcycle tourists. You can keep your bike locked up to itself outside with an overhang to protect from rain. Or you can bring it inside the restaurant that they dont use anymore. They have a lot of space even for a large group
Extremely hot water and crazy cold aircon. WiFi is good. Very lovely staff. They dont speak a ton of english, but they are really helpful. They have let me check in early twice now. They also found a way to let me extend a night by changing rooms but they got the second room clean immediately so I didn’t even have to wait in the lobby.
Dont let the reviews or outside appearance fool you. They keep the hotel quite nice even for as old as it is. I think the rooms are nice and the hotel is mostly quiet with seemingly only business men using the hotel. So you makes for a very quiet night. Thank you for the nice stay!
The price online sites and walk in prices are almost the same. You get a lightly better price if you...
Read moreHotel Suehiro was a decent if not especially impressive "wedding hotel" that seems to split the business with its rival a few blocks away, the Miura Kaen.
The hotel is a little dated but has been maintained fairly well, and I had no real complaints except that the breakfast buffet, which was of high quality but was very poorly re-stocked after the initial spread was laid out. The eggs and bacon were not replenished for the entire duration I was in the dining room. Very poor form, Sueniro... minus 1 star just for that.
Rate in July 2017 was 7500 yen which, if memory serves, included breakfast. A little on the high side but...
