Fairfield by Marriott Kagoshima Sakurajima — Hotel in Tarumizu

We stayed here for 3 nights while exploring the area; having a car is necessary. The room was very comfortable, and spacious by Japanese standards, with a separate shower, toilet, and screen to make the bathroom area into a dressing room. The shower door is amazing - zero leakage. Beds were very comfortable. Terrace is nice for a sunset view or overlooking the water. Mini-fridge and kettle provided. The only downside is that parking is basically a short walk away in part of a large rest area. Getting into and out of that rest area parking lot can be a problem in periods of peak congestion. We visited during Golden Week, and had to wait about 20 minutes to turn into the property, for example. There is food at the rest station (walkable) as well as food trucks, and there is a Family Mart immediately in front of the hotel for convenience items. Overall, a pleasant stay other than the...

Stopped here for the night as it was quite a long drive along the coastal road from Miyazaki. We were also going to explore Sakurajimae the next day and this was a convenient location for that.||The hotel is newish but a little on the sterile side. The room was a nice size and the double bed was comfortable. The toilet was separated from the bath and the bedroom via a sliding door.||There is shared free parking with Lawsons. They do not have hot cooked food options but do have drinks and buns for sale.
