Ryokan Tabanakan — Hotel in Totsukawa

The host husband and wife here were so nice. We had some issues with the neighboring guests being noisy and they took care of the situation and were very accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and the front rooms have a nice view of the river and a little sitting room along the window with table and chairs. Each room has a vanity and sink area but guest toilets are in the hallways. The bath water is pure hot springs water and as such has a particular smell common to all natural hot springs. The food was ok. The host husband catchers all the fish in the river so the fish is very fresh. Big eaters may want to consider bringing more food to eat in the room as shopping is extremely limited. For a reasonable price this Japanese inn takes good care of its guests. It has a very relaxed, at home, friendly atmosphere. I personally recommend using the private bath for couples and families. We absolutely loved staying here while hiking the Kumano Kodo. Such a cute and clean traditional Japanese room with an amazing view of the lake. 新緑の熊野古道を散策を兼ねて、7月に1泊させて頂きました。||「小辺路」のルートにもなっているので拠点としても使えそうな立地です。||||全10室のこじんまりした旅館ですが、||宿泊エリアは3階で、2階の部屋は食事用の個室として使われているので、||落ち着いてご飯をいただく事ができます。||部屋によっては展望がないので、少し窮屈さを感じるかもしれません。||||温泉はすべて掛け流しで男女個別の温泉に加えて個室貸切露天風呂もあり。||予約や別料金も必要なく、外にかかっている札をみて、||空いていれば使用可という、緩やかなルールで運用されています。||||貸切露天風呂ですが、予約をしなくてもいい反面、||空いてるかどうか頻繁に確認しにいくのが面倒でしたが、||客数も多くないので全く入れないことはないのだと思います。||||露天風呂ですが、周辺の宿から見えないようにするためか、||空が見えるだけで展望はありませんでした。||でも、夜はこじんまりしたお風呂に暖色の灯で落ち着けました。||||なんといっても源泉掛け流しの温泉がすばらしい。||一番驚いたのは、シャワーからも温泉が噴出すことです。||これはもう贅沢至極です。||||料理は夜が多めで、朝は少し少なめという印象を受けました。||でも主人が自ら釣られたという川魚がおいしくて満足です。||||ちなみに朝は、私が宿泊したときは、||温泉水を使ったインスタントコーヒーが楽しめ、||持ち帰り用の温泉水入りボトルを用意してくださりました。||||温泉効果なのか、おかみさんは驚くほどお肌すべすべで素敵な方でした。||||しかし温泉も料理も満足なのですが、ちょっと気をつけないといけないのは、||各部屋ともに、鍵がかかる格子戸の内側すぐに部屋となっており、||そこが襖１枚になっているということです。つまり、音が筒抜け。||||旅館というより、民宿のような宿なので仕方ないと割り切らないと、||壁も薄いので、テレビの音も伝わってきます。||さすがに細かい話の内容まではわかりませんが、||音が鳴っていることがわかる感じです。||||あと、私が宿泊したときは子連れの家族がおり、||子供が相当部屋の中外で走り回っていたので、||その音が部屋に鳴り響いてました。||||比較的手ごろな値段と温泉・料理の魅力、アットホームな雰囲気を考えると、||私は魅力的な宿だと思いますが、音の問題は理解してお...
