This was our first stop on our first visit to Japan. They set the expectation for service in Japan – which was actually met throughout the multi week across throughout the country. I called the week before just to confirm everything, as the reservations were made 6 months prior. I also wanted to let them know we did not expect to arrive until after 10 at night. The first person I spoke to was very apologetic and managed to get across that he unfortunately did not speak English. Since we really could not communicate I just decided I would just have to assume everything was okay and we discontinued the call on a confused, but happy note. However within 10 minutes I had a call back from Coco Gardens. This was my introduction to Jimmy – who proved to be absolutely wonderful during our entire stay. Jimmy assured me he would be there when we arrived late in the evening. And he was. We arrived well after 10, but Jimmy was there to greet us with cool towels and hot tea. He explained the amenities of the resort and made sure one of the other members of the staff helped settle us into our room.|| Our room was very spacious, and very clean. The amenities were plentiful – tea, bottled water, razors, brush, toothbrush, body towels – and a Japanese staple at hotels – pajamas! The beds were very comfortable, room temperature perfect, and it was quiet and peaceful.|| Our stay included breakfast, as well a one dinner. We were out and about all day so the dinner never came into play. However we did enjoy the breakfast buffet each morning. It was excellent. The selection was terrific – salad bar, fruit bar, breads, hot and cold cereals, steamed vegetables, eggs, pastries, steamed dumplings, breakfast meats, chef’s station with fresh made selections and a wide variety of juices, coffees and teas. Anyone would be able to find something to their liking to enjoy. There is a bar near the restaurant, however this is not a bar scene place. It is very family oriented and on the two occasions we did visit the bar for an evening beverage we were the only ones there and someone from the restaurant staff had to come make the drinks as it does not appear to be staffed with a dedicated bartender. No worries though – service here was as it is throughout the resort – excellent.|| Jimmy was a constant presence – I swear the man does not sleep! He even took care of cleaning leaves off of the car windows so each morning the vehicle was ready to go. Everything about this place spoke of excellent service. We will be visiting Okinawa again and will definitely plan on staying here. So much better than a big commercial hotel –...
Read moreWe stayed at Coco's Garden because we needed a place up towards the middle of the island. It looked beautiful online and although a little run down (why do they use wall paper in such a humid environment?? It is always peeling off!) we were very pleased with our stay.||||The pool was very beautiful and provides a great view over the ocean, only slightly marred by the power plant in the middle of the bay, and the surrounding mountains. The pool has no shallow end though, so beware if you have small kids. The shallowest it gets is 1.4 meters. There are hammocks by the pool too. Also, two tortoises who are penned in.||||Our room was large with a king bed, a small sitting area, balcony (with no view at all- buildings are only two stories tall), and a huge bathroom with a large tub that I could actually stretch out in.||||Room service was fine, no complaints.||||Breakfast was decent, but not very expansive. There was lots of fresh fruit. We tried the dinner one night and it was good. The dim sum didn't blow me away, especially for the price, but I enjoyed it. The desserts were probably our favorite part. Staff was super helpful and understanding when our baby decided he was tired and threw a small fit before collapsing asleep. They even put two chairs together and laid out a towel so he could sleep at the table while we finally enjoyed our meal.||||A big bonus is the access to the Renaissance hotel facilities. They have a better pool for kids (indoor and outdoor), a nice beach, outdoor cafe, outdoor aquarium, dolphin show and all kinds of activities. If you have children, the Renaissance is where you want to be. There is a shuttle between the two or it is about a 15 minute drive with free parking.||||Coco's is probably best for couples looking to get away and relax...
Read moreWe chose to stay at Coco Garden after searching for a reasonably priced yet 'resort' style accommodation in Okinawa. This one seemed to best fit what we were after in terms of budget, buffet breakfast and pool. ||Buffet breakfast was good, however being in a Chinese themed restaurant meant there were lots of Chinese foods - which was a bit funny seeing as we are Australians in Japan eating Chinese food! Still there were other choices at the buffet too and we were full by the end. ||Pool area was nice and clean, with comfortable chairs around. It was actually very quiet in the pool area. I think many people, especially those with children, head to the partner hotel Renaissance. So the pool at Coco was quite relaxing. When in the pool the view is nice, but standing near the edge you can clearly see the port/factories. ||As for the rooms, I didn't expect to be staying in an apartment block. However internally the room was very nicely done. Comfortable bed, cool theme with dark wood. I especially liked being able to use the in-room...
