We stayed there during the labyrinth festival, opting for a hotel instead of camping, as we were taking our young daughter to the party for the first time and boy were we pleased we did, as the weather was extremely wet! That didn't dampen the party spirit though but we were very thankful to have the shelter, hot springs and food at the end of the day. The staff were very polite and attentive but not at all instrusive, we received a nice hot cup of green tea and Japanese sweet upon arrival. The hotel is an old building, which gives it its charm but it is very clean and we were very happy with our room of 22 tatami, which was very comfortable. There was a toilet and wash basin, fridge, TV, a few tables and chairs in the room, Japanese tea and a small safe. We had futon mats to sleep on and although they set them out for you, there are spares in the cupboard so I always put an extra one underneath for added comfort. There was no bath or shower in the room, as you use the lovely communal bathing facilities ( indoor and outdoor hot spring baths), so if you're not too keen on going nude with strangers, check with the hotel to see if they have rooms with private bathrooms. The food was really quite good at dinner, plenty of choice served as a course of traditional Japanese food, so keep an open mind. Breakfast is a buffet with a choice of Japanese and western food but I almost always find the western choices at breakfast disappointing in this country because the bacon and sausages are pretty naff, so you might as well go Japanese or mix n match. You won't go hungry in the morning though, there's plenty to eat. I really enjoyed my stay, it was very comfortable for my family and I, we will...

Read moreWe arrived after spending a few days at Labyrinth Festival quite late in the evening and weren't disappointed, we had opted for the half board option so immediately sat down for dinner which was a full on banquet. Which was really nice and obviously different from western choices which was interesting, but food which might not be to everyones taste! Explored the hot springs for a bit which were amazing. Our room didn't have a shower in it - you had to use the hot springs showers which is a totally nude area and some western visitors might not like this as there is no privacy in the showers at all. On check out I settled the bill and asked if they could do me a cash advance on my UK debit card as there are no ATM's at all in the area (literally not one!) - after a slight language barrier moment the guy on reception kindly obliged (even though I am not sure he was supposed to!). Overall, great room, staff were really friendly and on the whole understood English, hot springs spa was good, a great experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone planning on stating...
