I stayed at Petra Royal Ranch with two friends, and our experience was exceptional and special. We chose the ranch because we wanted to stay in an authentic place, away from the overly touristy hotel area of Petra, and our expectations were far exceeded.
The owner, Saddam, personally picked us up at the bus parking lot, helped us exchange some money, and then offered us tea in a wild, scenic area of Wadi Musa. It was such a warm and genuine welcome.
When we arrived at our room, we were immediately struck by the fresh, clean scent. The room was spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
Saddam’s guidance was invaluable: he helped us plan a beautiful horseback riding excursion and a visit to Little Petra. On the second day, he arranged for us to enter Petra via the back road, which saved us both time and energy.
I highly recommend contacting him before your stay to organize your itinerary in advance. You can really tell that he puts his heart into the ranch and into making each guest’s experience special.
We found a wonderful environment full of kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitality. The wild, natural landscape surrounding the ranch made everything feel magical.
Note: Horseback riding is totally suitable even for complete beginners. I had never ridden a horse before, but I felt comfortable the entire time because someone was always there to guide and support me.
After a long and intense period of work, I truly appreciated and enjoyed every moment of this experience. It made me feel relaxed, recharged, and deeply connected to the...
Read morePetra B&B Ranch also is called Petra Royal Ranch (if you are looking at booking). This ranch and bed and breakfast is a special experience that can't be compared to just staying at a hotel. Located very close to Little Petra and a short 12 minute drive to the main Petra entrance, this B&B is owned and run by Saddam, a local who is an amazing host who will make you feel like family. Both the hotel side and the stables-side are impeccably clean...you could eat off the floor, even in the stable area. There is a lovely dining room where Saddam serves incredibly delicious dinners (it has an adjoining kitchen). The hotel rooms have what you need to be comfortable, including a small refrigerator and hot water kettle, as well as coffee, and the rooms are adjacent to a lovely sitting/lounge area where you will have your breakfast laid out when you wake up. Sunsets from the porch are gorgeous. There is the friendliest cat ever (Smoky), and her 2-week old kittens, and sometimes the sweet dog Rex will be around. The horses are very well cared for and happy, and were a pleasure to ride. Saddam arranged an amazing birthday dinner, cake, and surprise celebration for one of our party during our stay here. He also took us on an excursion to a hundreds-year old home that belonged to generations of his family previously that he has restored. A stay here will make your Jordan trip truly special and memorable in a way that a stay at the Movenpick or some other Wadi Musa hotel just could not do. I'm already thinking...
Read more(Too short) unique family stay thanks to the welcome and thoughtfulness of the owner, Saddam, the very cleanliness of the premises and the care of his horses. Saddam had asked me beforehand if we wanted to go for a ride with the horses and as it was a surprise for our two daughters , it was upon our arrival that the prepared horses were waiting for us!
We were able to enjoy two fresh home-cooked and carefully presented local dinners and breakfasts.
The two-room family room with shower room was spacious, comfortable (reversible air conditioning) served by a large, bright veranda opening onto a terrace with breathtaking views of the limestone massifs of Little Petra. And even if the flow of the shower is regulated, we must not forget that the water is imported, we really feel very comfortable. Despite the work required to operate the ranch, Saddam was also there to tell us his story with great enthusiasm.
Finally, the presence of Rex the German shepherd and Smokey the cat, both very endearing, completely satisfied all five of us!
Let Saddam’s dream...
