GAGARIN CAPSULE HOTEL — Hotel in Almaty

I liked this hostel a lot, I even came back for a second stay after heading off to Astana and other places. It's not in a place with any landmarks, but that didn't worry me, because everything else I like to be close to is nearby. The metro station is almost underneath the hostel, and the #19 bus to the bus terminal goes past. There are so many cafes and restaurants to walk to - I really liked Seventy, there are two branches within five minutes, and there is a Hopers Craft Beer bar just up the street.

The beds were very comfortable, although a bit warm with the door closed. The rooms have plenty if space, and there's a small table and chairs, if you need a desk. They provide tea, coffee and vouchers for breakfast downstairs in the restaurant. I must confess, I didn't like the breakfast - everything was cold.

They let you use their laundry for free, but it is slow and they might take your clothes out of they need the machines. There was one problem - the bedroom doors use a thumb recognition system, but it's not very reliable - it didn't recognise me on my second night there, but it did recognise me when I came back. I was away for 10 days - they stored my bag for me. Great service. Can get pricey when...

Boring place without vibes

First: it’s not a hotel - it’s a hostel.

This is not like those cool hostels where people hangs out and chats. This is mostly for domestic travelers who searches for a cheap option. The capsule in the dorm is very private but it lack ventilation, so it’s getting super hot and the oxygen level is going low. The bed was comfortable, even if the capsule was so short.

It is close to the metro. But even if it is close to the metro it is a way to go to reach the center. And when the metro has closed at midnight you need to go by taxi.

Very neat and clean . They are almost always packed with guests yet, you do not feel any difference. The rooms are not sound proof but over All the ambience, Staff, location everything was great !!!!
