Nyali Beach Resort is an honest place that gives honest service and great food.. The reception is big and roomy, and you can sit in there and enjoy the breeze of the ocean. Huge clean, well maintained swimming pool.
Simple dining room with no real ambience . Chairs and tables are laid in bare walled space where you can have a good breakfast with no thrills or frills. I wish they had brewed coffee, but the masala tea was amazing.
The rooms are comfortable, and toiletries are provided. Hot water showers, if you need one in the heat in Mombasa, with good pressure. The sea facing rooms are excellent too and you can stay in self-catering Villas if you please.
The bar, well stocked , cold beers and soft drinks , is sea front and the views are very good. The service at the bar is good and I would recommend you have your meals there.
The chef is an expert at sea food , and I can say all their dishes are delicious. Try the prawns masala it is simply the best dish.
Sorry for only one photo, but I shall post mire on my next trip.
The room for improvement I would suggest is that the breakfast and dining area can be spruced up a little.
So, all in all, it is a lovely place to stay, very affordable, and the management is on point.
The owners, Bikhu ,hostess Sushma, and all the reception staff, add to a good...
Read morePreviously reviewed this hotel and gave it 5* however, we visited yesterday and were treated abysmally. We have been visiting this hotel for months now, sometimes just for drinks, sometimes for lunch, or dinner in the evenings. It appears the management want to charge 2000 shillings for anyone to enter the hotel when tourists are around. This allows them to use the pool. We only wanted a drink after a long day and it was 5pm. Not likely to pay 2,500/- for a cup of tea! The reception staff were highly abusive, called security, and threatened to call the police! We are in our late 60’s and run an NGO here in Kenya. The man in reception also told us that we didn’t know who we were dealing with and what he could do to us! Obviously we will not visit this hotel again in the future, nor will any visitors to the NGO. We will remove this hotel from our list of recommended hotels for visitors as the abuse is not something anyone should suffer. The man in reception also advised my husband he should go to Whitesands Hotel! Obviously Nyali Beach Holiday Resort doesn’t wish rich Mzungus to visit or stay so I suggest if you can afford it, look at the many other and better hotels...
Read moreHad the worst experience at the resort. I stayed for 2 nights on a business trip. First the white bathroom slippers are recycled and very dirty. You try to call the reception but the phones in the room don't work. Secondly, I made it clear that I have an early morning and the staff insisted that breakfast is served at 7.00am without exceptions. On getting to breakfast, nothing is ready, had to wait for the waiter to scramble around looking for meal tags while the chefs tried to put out a basic breakfast with cold boiled eggs putting me off completely. This was same case for day 2. The waiter kept complaining to me how the hotel is mismanaged with few staff doing all the work which left me feeling very uncomfortable. In the evening I tried getting a glass of wine at the bar, was served the first one and requested for a second only to be told it's now bottle service. Worst thing is that he called his colleague and they started discussing loudly so I could here that no hotel serves wine by the glass. Safe to say I will not be going back...
