I’ve been wanting to come here for years, since friends of mine made this their base for their wedding and the photos looked delightful. It’s such a tastefully decorated peaceful oasis on the edge of Nairobi, just beyond the Giraffe Center which is in walking distance. We only stayed here for two nights after arriving and before departing for the bush. The nature trail at the Giraffe Center is a nice way to stretch your legs, and if we didn’t have to get some logistics sorted we would have just stayed here all day and enjoyed the lovely setting by the beautiful pool under lush trees and watched the vervet monkeys play. I thought it was a bed and breakfast but was thrilled to find out that they serve lunch and dinner as well. Everything is delicious and if I still lived in Nairobi, I’d just come here for lunch and to enjoy the peace. The staff is super kind and welcoming. We loved our room (it does get cold at night in winter!), and the bathroom was spacious and equipped with lovely Cinnabar cosmetics. They add nice little touches and the place really just welcomes you to relax in the garden or at one of the lounges by the fireplace. Would love to stay for longer next time and...
Read moreMacushla house was recommended as a location to decompress from international travel before departing on our safari but quickly became much more, feeling like home for our 3 night stay. Uniquely decorated and with a very attentive and helpful staff I will be sure to visit again when I visit Nairobi. Millicent, Steven and Peter were all very friendly and helpful. Peter was particularly helpful, always there to help on the property and he also arranged a half-day excursion for us. We didn't prearrange the excursion because we weren't sure how we would feel after our travel, but Peter was able to arrange a car and driver on very short notice. We did prearrange a half day that included Nairobi National Park, the Giraffe Center and the Elephant sanctuary, everything was nearby and I highly recommend that excursion. We had expected to visit some local restaurants in the area but were so impressed by the food we ate all our meals at Macushla house. The property is also wonderfully landscaped with a number of bird and mammal visitors that...
Read moreA beautiful boutique hotel consists of 6 rooms in a lushy green setting. It is a relatively small hotel with beautiful art deco, where the service was very personalised. Even though there were guests when we were staying, we always that we had our own private space. ||We arrived at 11:00 pm and Peter has made sure we will have a nice candle light dinner. A fireplace was lit for us especially at the lounge when we felt a bit cold. All staffs are nice and friendly. When you walk up to the bridge of the hotel, you will see the monkeys. Do not get too close as they are wild. This hotel is very close to the elephant sanctuary, the giraffe centre and the Wilson airstrip. Lovely hotel. ||Tips: Order dinner at least an hour early. Bring warm pyjamas in August, could be...
