The worst hotel we have ever stayed at. EVER. We were booked in by a travel agency for a group of eighteen friends and were shocked when we arrived at our rooms. There is only one light in the room; the solar charging box doesn’t work; there are 2 dozens dead bugs on top of the mosquito nets above beds (and I also found a dead bug IN my bed); the TOILETS. The ceiling is made of a thin sheet of plastic, ants crawling all over the wall and mosquitoes everywhere; water running in the taps are yellow so I couldn’t even wash face and had to use bottled water for everything. Not even mentioning that there’s only a bar of soap and a set of toothbrush for every guest. No shampoo, no shower gel, no nothing. After an entire day of safari I wasn’t able to take a shower. HORRIBLE. Another friend’s room had a broken lamp, and found a puddle of cow dung on their bed sheet. Tried calling room service but no staff showed up for 20 minutes.
The FOOD. Like what even is that? Dinner “buffet” is made up of eight dishes, of which 4 are different sorts of rice: white rice, rice with coriander shreds, rice with chives, chow mien that’s inedible because it’s uncooked. Only beverages offered are instant coffee and instant hot chocolate.
The breakfast. I had to eat instant noodle I brought myself since nothing looked appetising.
Same as lunch. Instant noodle again.
The sanitary level is totally unacceptable and the service is highly questionable for the 300 dollar per night price tag. INSANE. We were initially booked in for two nights by our agent but all of us decided to ask for a refund and swap to another hotel nearby. So glad we didn’t have to stay here for another night.
I cannot imagine anyone giving this place more than a one star. The 5 stars reviews are probably fakes made by hotel...
Read moreThis lodge was my fifth during my stay, so hard for me not to compare with the previous ones. Unfortunately apart from the staff, it was not my favourite stay in Kenya for some reasons: my room was very humid and dark, not a ray of sunshine hits the room so it got cold quickly. I did not like the bed that was too hard for me. A very large groupe of Chinese tourists were staying in on my first night and they were very noisy even if I did ask them to be quite they didn’t care. Thankfully I called the reception and they went to tell them and I could finally sleep (early game drive the next day so sleeping well was important). I did not enjoy food a lot, as I stayed three nights, it was unfortunately the same every day, and not a lot of choice for vegetarian. The camp is a bit far from the gate to enter Masai Mara national reserve and the road is really bad and dirty, sadly a forgotten side. The staff is the best thing about this resort: friendly, here to help, many Masai people around selling souvenirs or who could take you to visit their village close by. Other than that, I believe better lodges are certainly around at...
Read moreMy recent stay at Mara Chui was truly memorable. The camp blends comfort with the authentic feel of the Mara, giving a perfect balance between adventure and relaxation. The staff were exceptionally welcoming, attentive, and always ready to help, which made the whole experience feel personal and special.
The tents are spacious, clean, and well set up, with just the right touch of luxury while still allowing you to stay close to nature. I especially enjoyed the peaceful environment of the camp—it feels tucked away and private, yet still very accessible to the main attractions of Maasai Mara.
The food was fresh, tasty, and varied, with every meal thoughtfully prepared. Game drives arranged through the camp were excellent, with knowledgeable guides who made sure we had the best experience possible.
Overall, Mara Chui is a wonderful choice for anyone visiting the Mara. It offers great value, warm hospitality, and a real connection to the wild. I would not hesitate to recommend it and I look forward...
