Poor value for money

We were traveling in a group of 10 and were hosted in this Camp for 2 nights. The tour we had booked included 2 nights in a Hotel in Masai Mara. The camp is not bad but it definitely doesn't fulfill any expectations we had for a stay in a Hotel and for that price. It is actually just camping. The tents are clean, but depending what tent you’ll get, very cramped. We, as a couple, got a tent with two beds. There was no place to put our luggage and suitcases as in the tent fit only those two beds and nothing else! Every time we needed something out of the suitcases, we had to pull them on the bed, open them, and close them again and put them back, standing on the floor. It was very exhausting after a long day of sweaty and dusty Safari. End of January it gets really cold at night. There is no heater nowhere. We were so cold!!!! Taking a shower is a torture! At the reception they told us to switch on the warm water and let it run for 15 minutes until it will be warm water. We did that. After 40 minutes still no hot water. So we showered and even washed our hair with cold water. The bathroom windows are open and can't be closed. So the bathroom is freezing cold and full with Insects and their poop. The next day we told them about the cold water and it turned out the water pressure is not enough so there is a special technique to get hot water. When we tried the special technique the next morning it came still only freezing cold water. When we told them about it, they just laughed and said electricity got cut the whole morning.... I understand those things may happen. But for that prize this is unacceptable. If you charge those prizes you have to make sure the guests have at least hot water in the shower in the middle of winter. Instead we got only a silly smile and a shrug as if it is our problem.

Even we reported very friendly twice the water problem, there was no price reduction, refund or any other recompensation offered.

The restaurant area is actually a covered Terrasse. Food got very cold very quickly. We were freezing too. Especially after the cold shower! At one point a heavy rain shower came down and we had to grab our stuff and push towards the middle of the Terrasse just not to get wet. We sat there with shawls and winter jackets for breakfast and dinner. It's really lowest standard.

The moment we emptied our plates, the lady came to take the dishes and we got communicated that the kitchen wants to close and just waits for us to finish. There is no where a place to just sit and chat.

In general it is very difficult to get a smile from the overseer lady. It made me feel miserable. Only the kind guy who showed us our tent was very friendly, smiled and answered to our greetings. The tone we got communicated was very harsh and demanding. We didn't feel welcomed.

For Breakfast no proper coffee. Just Instant coffee powder.

The camp was also supposed to prepare twice a lunch box, as it was included in the prize. It contained a drink, a terrible soaked sandwich, a piece of chicken and cold fries, a banana and some bisquits. The chicken resembled more a weapon than food. It was uneatable. So were the fries. Imagine our surprise, when we received our cold lunch box, whereas the 4 tour guides were allowed to eat at a warm buffet.

Do yourself a favor and don't get hosted there in winter. We will be back in Kenya next year, but for sure not in that camp. It's the same Story everywhere: Muzungus have to open their pocket and pay, but shouldn't expect...

We spent 2 nights at Mara Olodare Camp while on safari in the Masai Mara, and it was truly one of the highlights of my trip. The camp is perfectly situated just outside the park, offering easy access to game drives while still feeling peaceful and secluded in nature. The tents are clean, spacious, and very comfortable, with hot showers and cozy beds, everything you need after a long day in the bush. The staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout my stay. From the moment I arrived, I felt well taken care of. The food was delicious, freshly prepared, and plentiful, with special attention given to dietary preferences. Every meal felt like it was made with love. Evenings around the campfire under the stars were magical. The camp strikes the perfect balance between authentic safari experience and comfort. I highly recommend Mara Olodare Camp to anyone looking for a genuine, budget-friendly safari experience without compromising on quality. I would gladly...

I spent last 3 days in a Olodare camp and can strongly recommend it. For the money paid it offered more than I expected. The tents were spacious and clean with individual toilette and shower attached. Food was always fresh made, versatile and delicious. Francis was an exceptional host. Very positive, friendly and helpful. And his friends were guarding the camp by the fireplace all night long!!!, just in case any animal would sneak in. Great value for money if you come for game watching (rather than for a swimming pool...
