5/5 A great hotel to relax and feel good. It was like living in paradise without feeling like a guest, but part of the Ocean family. It's a small but very fine hotel. We were in the B-range and can really only recommend it. The garden is very well maintained. A nice and small oasis with a view to the sea. The rooms are nicely furnished and very clean. The rooms were cleaned daily. Also the corners were cleaned daily. The hotel distinguishes itself by the fact that it is only for adults and that makes for a great and quiet atmosphere. The little monkeys running around freely ask for a nice change. It is wonderful to live in harmony with nature. In the hotel distances itself from sex tourism, the complex is guarded by rangers, so that we guests have our peace. No vendors who come close to us or strangers in the hotel complex The hotel makes every effort to ensure that all guests are well, and we take advantage of the facilities and learn boccia. The trainer has explained everything to us in detail and also showed us the tricks to win. Thanks to the trainer for the great training. In the evening we take the opportunity to play tennis. Also here we felt comfortable. The dinner was a dream. Really changing buffet. Sometimes Chinese, sometimes African, sometimes Mexican and so on. The meat or fish is freshly grilled daily on the open grill. It is really crazy. I like to look back at the night when the buffet was set up outside in the garden. I have rarely seen anything so beautiful and romantic. After the dinner there was also a small but nice evening program for 1h. The local dancers I have to say were really good to say not even very good. I found the singers now okay but not outstanding. Sounds were sometimes crooked but not unpleasant. I found the beat show super interesting. Here I would have liked to see more reptiles or at least more than just 3 snakes. The breakfast is the dream. Freshly made pancakes, fruit, conflakes, bread, freshly squeezed juices (mango, pineapple, passion fruit etc), omelette which is made fresh after ordering. So the quality of the food was very high. Now to the staff. A hotel is only as good as the staff. In summary, we can say that the employees are very cordial. Sure with the African serenity but not bad. On vacation everything can and should take a little time, more important than if the hectic rush would break out. We would like to thank all employees. You have made a decisive contribution to the fact that we not only felt comfortable but also at home. Cordiality is very important here. I would like to thank Mwanaaischa. On a day when I was not feeling so well she took a short time and was there. She brought me a tea and said something nice and went back to work. She took 3 minutes for a guest who was not feeling well. This is more than she actually had to do. I have never experienced that before. Mwanarusi, I want to thank you. For always making every guest shine with your smile and your mind. We would also like to thank the ranger, chaperone ali tengeza. Thank you for answering every question in a friendly way. Thanks to you I know more about Boabab tree, about the little monkeys. You never made us feel like we were annoying. Thanks also for asking a pushy salesman to leave me alone because I just wanted to swim in the ocean. Thanks to all employees. You have made our vacation unforgettable. We plan to come back next year and we know we don't want to go to any other hotel. Best regards to Ocean Leone (Shiro)...
Read moreVisiting the Ocean Village Club was an entirely pleasant experience and unexpected delightful surprise. After arriving with muted expectations, I left surprised that the reviews hadn’t captured the boutique hotel’s timeless elegance, charm and spectacular location along the Diani beach coast.
What makes Ocean Village Club so special? The whole simple luxurious ambience and tranquility. The adults only policy, and insistence that guests forgo disruptive activities and noisy devices, creates a rare peaceful calmness across the 50 room estate gardens allowing guests to soak in the sounds of the rhythmic ocean waves and the palm trees singing in the breeze.
The service was consistently friendly, efficient and helpful. Staff were constantly on-hand to serve chilled beers and freshly made cocktails. They were led by the exceedingly welcoming local manager Arty, who willingly shared his local knowledge on what to do and see.
Dinner, buffet style, was served unrushed in the garden under the trees. Quite possibly the tastiest buffet food I’ve ever experienced - fresh delicious salads, hearty and perfectly seasoned Kenyan stews and a BBQ serving up succulent chunks of lamb and freshly caught meaty fish from the nearby Indian Ocean.
The room was elegant, spacious and clean and was accessed through its own porch terrace entrance with views looking out to the Indian Ocean. Furnishing were a little aged yet were entirely functional and added to the coastal Kenyan charm. The bed was huge - extra King size - and exceptionally comfortable with freshly adorned linen sheets.
The hotel pool is wonderful to laze around. There are sun beds overlooking the beach where staff ensure guests are left unbothered. The beach is quiet and surprisingly deserted - perfect for a walk along the coast. Beach boys try to engage in conversation and back off after politely, but firmly, letting them know you’re interested in just walking. If you want to lounge, just soaking in the hypnotic sounds of the ocean, there’s no shortage of wicker loungers along with comfy pillows which can be easily accessed throughout the day. In other words, no need to get up at the crack of dawn to reserve!
Room for improvement would be updating the evening dress code for dinner, which felt antiquated and restrictive. After a day lounging around the last thing I wish to do is wear trousers to dinner (also after a week on Safari I didn’t have much room to pack smart evening clothes). Moreover, it didn’t feel the dress code equally applied to women. Several female guests wore denim shorts and beach t-shirts, hardly elegant. Perhaps updating the requirement to smart evening shorts with covered shoes would be sufficient (i.e. no beachwear or flip flops). This is generally the rule in the Middle East where I live and far more practical in a warm climate.
I leave here adoring the understated luxury and excellent service. This hotel has oodles of charm and character. May I hope it maintains the qualities which makes it so unique - a luxurious calmness so rare and much needed in...
Read moreI’ve stayed in well over 600 hotels in my life – from budget places to ultra-luxury resorts – but this one truly stands out. It was my first time in Kenya, and I couldn’t have imagined a better start: an absolutely perfect experience from the very beginning.||The most remarkable aspect? The staff. Genuinely attentive, friendly, and helpful – it’s clear that everyone here truly wants guests to feel completely comfortable. Whether at the beach, in the restaurant, at the front desk, or in the garden – someone is always around with a warm smile, ready to assist. A special mention to Hamisi, the Guest Relations Manager, who consistently checked in and offered help in such a thoughtful way.||The property itself is well-maintained, spotless, and spacious. You hardly run into other guests – ideal for true relaxation. The atmosphere is calm, and the entire place feels incredibly safe. Even in the evenings, guards discreetly keep an eye on the beachside without being intrusive. As for the often-mentioned beach boys – we had no issues whatsoever. Within the resort, you’re left in peace.||The food was consistently excellent. The menu changes daily, which keeps things interesting, and any special request was met with a smile. Breakfast was a highlight: fresh pancakes, omelettes made to order, fresh fruits and juices – everything fresh and full of flavor. The cocktails were also fantastic, and even during the day on the beach, service was attentive and smooth.||One very special aspect of this hotel: they deliberately choose not to accept tips and make this clear from the start. The idea behind it is simple – everyone contributes equally to the guest experience, whether it’s the waiter, room cleaner, gardener, or cook. And you feel that in every interaction. Everyone puts in effort, and it seems to come from a genuine place. That alone makes the experience stand out.||There were lovely little extras too – one evening, for example, a cocktail night with canapés, soft guitar music, and even a visit from a few reptiles for those curious to see or touch them (completely optional and calmly presented). Again, beautifully organized without being flashy.||Another thing I appreciated: the staff remember details – your preferences, favorite drinks – and the next day, they’ll ask if you’d like the same again. That level of attention and care is rare to find.||Daily cleaning is thorough and reliable. And if something doesn’t feel right, they’ll find a way to make it right – the whole team is clearly committed to making every stay as perfect as possible.||I came across only a few negative reviews but honestly couldn’t relate. The cocktail menu is extensive, and if you have specific wishes – just ask. Every request we had was accommodated. I’ve rarely seen such a well-coordinated, warm, and guest-focused service.||This isn’t a hotel that impresses with golden faucets – but with genuine care, thoughtful structure, and a sense of calm professionalism that’s increasingly rare. A truly special place that sets a...
