Nomad Bar is located on Diani Beach Road in Diani. It is on the same property as The Sands and Nomads Hotel that is 4.8km from Ukunda Airstrip.

They offer dine-in as well as takeaway. They are quite busy on the weekends. I chose to go there on a weekday and it was quite peaceful and you can select the table you want, especially the ones right at the beach. Word for the wise, make a reservation early enough to avoid disappointment.

They have a Swahili theme going with lesos used to provide shade at the outdoor seating sections. The seating is quite comfortable.

They are sensitive to people that are on wheel chairs or those that have baby strollers so there are ramps are very strategic points and therefore you do not have to struggle getting in and around the facility.

They have a number of starters that you can select. I had the king prawns and they were superbly done. I have been to a number of places that don’t seem to get it right. The sauce that came with it was simply divine.

For the main course we ordered the Taffi fish. The portion was very good it came with potato wedges and a dipping sauce. We tried the grilled fish, one without the special sauce and one with the special sauce. They were very very tasty and filling. Compliments to the chef!

The service was very friendly and they attended to us in such a polite manner. They made sure we were comfortable and took care of what we needed. Special thanks to Stella who was our waitress that afternoon.

It has unparalleled views of the ocean and the cool gentle breeze of the ocean will make you want sit there and just be for the entire afternoon.

Nomad is a place that you must visit when in Diani. I will return and...

Positive Points: The food was tasty. The „cold mezze“ was authentic and very good. The toppings and cheese on the pizza were good, the sauce on the other hand tasted a bit bland. The Sushi was well-made but the ingredients unfortunately tasteless. The Restaurant has a great atmosphere and the view of the ocean is awesome. The Toilet Facilities are kept specklessy clean. The place is very accessible for disabled people, there are special bathrooms and ramps in place. Negative Points: One of the first questions we got asked when ordering was „are you hotel guests?“ It took very long to order and even longer to get our food. Everytime we ordered something new it was either forgotten or took such a long time that we ordered again and again. And not just bread or pizza, even water! No coordination between the waiters: more than five people where at our table at different times asking if we need something even though we just ordered. When we wanted to order no one seemed to show up for long times though. There still is no Wifi in the whole restaurant. The pricing is incredibly expensive. Every meal menu costs at least 1500Ksh and most drinks around 600Ksh. One bottle of water costs 350Ksh and you constantly are asked if you want more. We had to pay an entrance fee to enter the property of 2000Ksh even though we were only there in the evening, when the turtle watch was closed and...

We’ve been coming to Nomad since 2018 and it’s still a must go address in Diani. The location and atmosphere are great. However this time around there were a few mishaps that I need to point out because I really think the place should do better:

A cat (with a necklace so probably belonging to someone) kept jumping on our table to get our food. We had to really put in a lot of effort to get it away and not touch our food but it basically ruined our starters because we then just rushed to eat them before it came back. No matter how much we tried to push it away it just jumped back on the table. It seemed to be used to being able to eat people’s food because I’ve never seen a cat behave like that (let alone with a necklace).

The starters were great but the main dish of sushi was a bit disappointing. The rolls were not super tasty and the fish not so tender.

Service was great from 7/7:30pm but before that we had to struggle to get the waiter’s attention and repeat our orders multiple times. It was frustrating because at 6pm when we arrived there were few guests but many staff.

Will def come again but if this can be improved it will make our time all the...

Disappointing Experience at Nomads Bar and Restaurant. "We recently dined at Nomads Bar and Restaurant and were incredibly disappointed with the service. The staff seemed completely inattentive, taking an excessive amount of time to even acknowledge our presence, let alone take our order. When we finally received our food, we requested a takeaway box, but the packaging was clearly inadequate and our food suffered as a result. Furthermore, we observed a significant disparity in the level of service provided to local patrons versus foreign tourists. The staff appeared to be far more attentive and courteous to the white clientele, which was deeply unsettling. Overall, our experience at Nomads Bar and Restaurant was deeply unsatisfactory. The staff needs to undergo serious training on customer service, particularly regarding attentiveness, efficiency, and treating all patrons with equal respect and courtesy.
