Nyumba ya Afrika — Hotel in Watamu ward

My husband and I spent nearly two weeks at Nyumba ya Madau in Watamu and it was a perfect holiday. The house is beautiful and the location is stunning, right on the beach with a beautiful private garden and area right in the sand, there are gorgeous wooden sun beds and an external living room area that are just perfect to spend time and read. Literally a few steps to the ocean, feeling very private and secluded. The views are breath-taking. Needless to say much about the Watamu National Marine Park - the ocean is crystal clear and right at your doorstep. ||||The staff is also wonderful and extremely friendly and professional. The chef can prepare anything you ask him, from fresh fish and seafood to delicious chocolate mousse, and the breakfasts were also really good. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. On top of this, the staff organised for a masseuse to come in nearly every morning, at very reasonable prices, very much recommended.||||All in all, I would totally recommend Nyumba ya Madau for a holiday, both as a romantic retreat or as a family holiday since there would be enough space for ten people or so. This place is paradise. We've been to quite a lot of places but this house in this place is likely to remain as "one of a kind" in our vacation memory bank. ||The house is spacious - 5 double rooms. There are 5 of us which is little i d say with 8 people u would still feel ultra comfortable. And 10 u d be ok||The house personnel - these guys are so friendly/charming - the cooking truly is fantastic - and as the house is quite isolated (25 min to watamu "town" ) u hardly feel like u want to go and dine anywhere else but here (there is a beach restaurant nearby which is ok - if u REALLY want something different. Although not better. ||||Now the best thing here - the most fabulous ... Is the ocean. It is just simply breathtaking. U have ur nose on it. The beach is not solely yours but not crowded at all. Having seen these stunning pictures before getting here I knew it would be nice, but being here in person and taking in the whole experience was really incredible. A beautiful beach, super soft sand, long walks outward during low tide and splashing around in crystal clear water. A charming, comfortable and beautifully decorated house on the beach with enchanting views of the ocean. Reading and relaxing in the veranda with the soft wind blowing and sounds of the waves. Polite and very helpful staff Cornelius and Mwalimu. Fantastic chef Gabriel: I already miss so much aperitivo with his fried seaweed, and his raw fish (you can buy fresh fish from the fishermen on the beach) and gnocchi!!! But he can prepare anything for you, all you have to do is ask. Their special aloe massages were also so relaxing! And finally a great pool, especially for kids, mine had a blast!
