Quite the experience. 16 of us stayed here, and we're still talking about it today. Our booking was a surprise to the owners, which added to the excitement. They were very hospitable, ignoring all drink diving laws to make sure we had resources for the weekend. The rooms were homely, if not spacious. Some had working toilets, others windows, and TVs/safes. Thankfully the air-con didn't work, so the authentic Latvian air was not compromised. Cleaners were so discreet in the morning that we didn't notice them. The spa was simplistic, which gave it a dusty, spartan like feel. Very unique. We didn't go in the pool, although it was inviting. We had full access to the garden of atonement. Transport into town was easy to get a hold of, and they were willing to arrive during the day or even at 5am on a Sunday. Getting back at night was easy, especially with the local police eager to help the lucky ones amongst us. A kebab van may or may not have been on...
Read moreWe stayed only for one night and it was terrible! If they haven't taken the money in advance we wouldn't pay. The furniture is old and smelly, the bed sheets and the towels look like they are 30 years old and aren't washed after every guest. However, the worst was the service. First, we have found out that there is no internet in the rooms, then they have tried to put in a cheaper room, we refused, then they have tried to charge us more money, but no luck for them neither. Then when we have arrived around 2am to the hotel all doors were locked and noone was inside. We have spent one hour calling their phone number and knocking in all doors and windows and only at 3am came the owner, totaly drunk, and has opened the door for us. ||Avoid the place by any...
Read moreThe main advantage of this Hotel is its location. A short car ride from Riga airport makes it a suitable place for arrival or departure in Latvia. The railway station is nearby and provides a fairly regular service to Riga centre without having to brave the traffic. There is secure parking at rear which I suspect is necessary in this area. Additional protection is provided by a goat but it is unwise to park too close to it and bend over to open the boot. The hotel itself is basic but clean. Credit cards are not accepted. Breakfast off site. Not suitable for anyone who expects three star standards for 70 euros for a double room but is unlikely to be used by British...
