OC "Ventspils" — Hotel in Ventspils

I stayed in the hotel with a friend for two nights in January. The room was very cold and we had to ask for extra blankets, which helped. However, I had to stay in the room to work on my laptop for an hour or so the next day and it was so cold I had to put my winter boots on. The beds are very basic, but not uncomfortable. Oddly, only one bedside cabinet in a twin room. There is a TV in the room (but we did not watch it) and free Wi-Fi. The hotel provided towels and there is liquid soap in the bathroom, but nothing else. The room doors are not soundproof at all and we could clearly hear the cleaning stuff shouting in the corridors at 7AM in the morning. The hotel was almost empty, otherwise I believe normal sleep would have been impossible with people coming and going, as you can hear every sound from the corridors. The bathroom is very basic, but OK, except for the broken towel hanger, and our towels did not dry properly overnight because of the cold. Overall cleanliness is OK. The reception staff are very nice and friendly. The cafe was open only for breakfast, which we did not take, and the only way to get a hot drink there was a vending machine downstairs, which did not have any black tea at all...

My travel agent booked this hotel after I told them that is should be in a proximity of a particular address where I had to do some business that day. ||||The hotel is easy to find and there is ample parking available free of charge. The hotel itself is clean and the staff is friendly. They do not have elevator, but as they say - it's for sportsmen and they don't need no elevator. I couldn't argue that. This is no luxury hotel, but they still have all the basic amenities and the rooms are larger than one could expect. Yes, and they have TV, fridge and free WiFi. There are no single rooms, so you get your double-room from the single-room price. And the rooms are neatly priced. I'd call them inexpensive.||||Would I return next time to this...

My customer booked this hotel when we went to Ventspils for training. The hotel is in the center of the town near a sports complex. My room was large with a low bed. I thought the bed would be uncomfortable but I was surprised that it was medium - not too soft or too hard. My baggage didn't come from the airport so I didn't have my pjs. I was warm enough sleeping in my underwear in the room. It was really cold outside and I thought I would free to death. The bathroom was small and the shower really small. It sort of leaked on the floor. The wifi worked fine - no complaints. Breakfast was basic but they would make you something else if you didn't like the choices. I had boiled eggs with some fresh veggies...
