I'm not one to give such harsh reviews, but our stay at St Jean was laughably bad. The hotel and rooms are in such a poor condition that we went running when morning came.
Plus: Hotel is central in Zahle and you can more or less find a parking on the road near the entrance (it's on the back side of the main zahle street). The woman we met when checking in and out was friendly. Bathroom was tiny but functional. We didn't shower there, so I can't say much about that.
Minus: The bed was PAINFUL. You couldn't sit on it to put on your shoes without feeling pain in your back. Laying down was excruciating. I didn't dare turn around on my side. I managed to sleep a few hours and in the morning, once I woke up, I was out of the bed instantly. Couldn't lay there lazily. Bed sheets, comforters, etc, were old. The bedside lamp situation was ridiculous. One didn't even have a plug behind it to get electricity (lol), the other had its plug completely broken. The clock on the wall was broken too. A central heating pipe was out of the floor near the fridge. Breakfast was the basic of all basics. Manoushe zaatar, pain de mie, jam, Cafe 21, water. No juice, no fruit, no cheese, no tea, nothing. $100 for the night?! I mean... come on! Be realistic. If all of this cost $50, I'd be OK'ish with it. But $100 is just outrageous. Yes the location is good, but the hotel is in dire need of renovation and those mattresses have to be...
Read moreBE CAREFUL WHEN LOOKING FOR A PLACE IN ZAHLE, Lebanon.||THIS WAS DISGUSTING. |ALHamdulillah WE LEFT. ||This was an absolutely filthy room with stains all over the pillowcases and blankets. this is more like a place to take someone for a few hours. 🤢||When I spoke to the woman at reception yesterday to give her a courtesy of letting them know we were checking in late, she was extremely rude, having the audacity to ask me in arabic, in a rude tone, why we canceled one night and are only staying one evening instead of two.||She then told me, in Arabic, I wish you would change the date of your stay. 😳 WTF. Seriously!? ||The only thing that was good was the gentleman, Joseph who was extremely kind and courteous, helping us to find the location because it’s difficult to find and not very clear. Understanding our plight, trying to get us to stay. ||Tfeh. Would you put your head on these pillows or cover your body with that blanket. According to the rude woman on the phone, it was sooooo clean and spotless. Doesn’t say much about her level of cleanliness, I guess. ||I’ve used hotels.com all over the world and have never had anyone speak to me in the manner this woman did and I’ve never seen a hotel ever booked be this...
Read moreWe spent three nights in Hotel St. Jean. There were lots of positives - lovely breakfast (that cheesy bread!), a very helpful host in Diamonde, who helped us arrange all our trips and transport without any bother and it's also very centrally located in Zahle. It made for a very enjoyable trip.|Just a couple of things we weren't so keen on. One of our rooms was very small, and didn't have sockets for charging phones etc. Diamonde did try to improvise some improvements with seating outside the room which helped. The other room was a good size though.|The beds weren't very comfortable, and the plastic covering on both the mattress and pillows was annoying. |Overall we felt it was maybe just a little overpriced for the standard of accommodation.|We couldn't fault the welcome and assistance while we were there, and hopefully we'll return to...
