The hotel here was booked for us by the company that organised this part of our trip to Northern Madagascar. We were reliably informed that it is one of the best hotels in all of Diego, while this may be the case it was an uninspiring stay. It potentially speaks volumes about other alternatives in the area if this is the best? This hotel could have been plucked from pretty much any European holidaymakers location but it would not have been the best one there. There isnt much to say about it other than it was clean, tidy, spacious and had a good bed. While in no way bad, it was simply devoid of any character. It had a small pool but we didn't use it (it looked a bit grubby), and it had a restaurant on site that was pleasant food but like the hotel was very "middle of the road" and equally uninspiring. If like us you need a comfortable room and a place to rest your head prior to day excursions in the area it ticks those boxes but not a lot more. One thing I would say though is it had excellent views across the bay and apparently during the summer months from the hotels short pier (and the restaurant veranda) is a great place to watch whales in the bay early morning. We didnt see any whales during our stay, we were about a month after prime whale season though so not surprised. It was one of the least inspiring places we stayed on our trip but we would still recomend it simply due to being one of the best of a sub par selection of acomodation...
Read moreHere for 4 nights. the room is excellent. my advice when booking a room is to ask for top floor sea view. Best rooms for a view are 20, 21, 23,24 the restaurant is lovely and the food is mostly very good. however, portions are small (zebu steak), sauce is not enough (sauce poivre vert), and a little pricey. service is mostly bad. the restaurant staff have forgotten my order 2 times out of 5. I asked at 9.50pm if the bar was still open for another glass of wine and was told no, only to see the staff immediately give another order of drinks to a table of 4 near me which honestly annoyed me. The restaurant charges 20% extra to take your meal 50-60m to your room. The more expensive meals will be very expensive to have in your private room on the beautiful balcony. Very nice and appreciated to see that staff clean the sand beneath the restaurant. ... 2 stars on the service. after I complained, the service got much worse. staff sought revenge. I was given meat that I couldn't eat. staff laughed at me twice because I returned the food....
Read moreThis hotel offered modern construction, was well maintained, located right on the picturesque bay, 1/2 mile away from a large commercial harbor, this is a big property with many rooms. Power is on around the clock, and rooms had air conditioners, which was a nice treat for us. Staff was attentive and spoke several languages. The bar/dining room overlooked the pretty bay. We had superb breakfasts – huge fresh-out-of-the-oven croissants on a platter of perfectly ripe fruit, eggs on request. Dinners were also well-prepared and menus had several options for French or Malagasy selections. The hotel is not near the downtown shopping and restaurant area, but we liked having that distance from the chaos and noise of the weekday city-center traffic. This pleasant visit was included in our tour by Linah at Authentic...
