Not a terrible hotel but our experience was not pleasant.||||My wife and I came back to Sandakan for Cheng Beng, we chose this hotel because it is near to our relatives' house so that they can pick us up easily, but to be honest, I somehow regretted choosing it.||||Thumbs up:||1) We were granted for early check-in at 11am (2pm standard time) and late check-out at 2pm (12 pm standard time) without additional charges. Appreciate that I must say. :)||2) Very friendly and helpful staff. We had some difficult time during our stay but the staff have been very helpful in solving the problem (more on that later).||3) Despite the place is surrounded by very limited F&B shops, the food of Min Satay Corner are not bad, but don't expect for Chinese food in this location.||||Thumbs down:||1) We were suppose to sleep early on the day we checked in because we needed to wake up early the next day at about 5.30am. Then something horrible happened: a restaurant opposite our room (No.101), namely Rasa Kita, was having an open-door karaoke session. We couldn't sleep at all despite of tiredness. We requested to change room but the other rooms are full. Kudos to the staff who actually lodged a complaint to the restaurant and reported to the police. Not sure whether the police acted on it but the noise stopped at around 10.30pm, so we finally got to sleep. (Not sure whether the karaoke session was one-off or regular, do check with the hotel if you want to stay here)||2) The air-conditioning took quite a long time to get chilled. ||3) TV actually not working (showing "error in redirecting"). We didn't watch TV anyway so we didn't complain.||4) I don't normally bring along my toothbrush and toothpaste when I travel because the hotels normally offer one. They don't (I didn't ask for one actually).||||Overall:||Kudos to the friendly and helpful staff but sorry to say that I wouldn't choose the hotel again. For RM130 per night, I think I can get a much better hotel in Sandakan, like in location of...
Read moreI have been staying at this hotel a few times already and never experience such incidence before elsewhere before. Their staffs especially the sweepers( mother n daughter) have been spreading rumours about us as my friend living nearby visiting me and sometimes stay overnight due to our over drinking for his safety too. They are spreading the rumour about his presence in the hotel to others beside his family and causing a big fight beside embarrassment to both them. Is it the hotel policy to discourage hotel guest from having visiting or overnight friends. And will the hotel be responsible if anything happen to my friend walking late at night to his stil house. IF NOT THEN I WOULD LIKE THE HOTEL MANAGEMENT TO TAKE STERN DRASTIC ACTION INCLUDING SACKING THEM TO PREVENT FURTHER INCIDENT FROM HAPPENING TO OTHER GUESTS. I ENJOY MY STAY THERE BUT IF THEY STILL WORK HERE THEN IT WILL BE MY LAST TIME HERE n WILL DISCOURAGE MY VISITING FRIENDS FROM STAYING IN THIS HOTEL.
Reply to your answer sir :
For your information I dont think it is personal and considered it an invasion of privacy. Please dont defend your staffs blindly and they are definately not well trained by your hotel. You can deny everything but the truth. They are famous for being loud speaker( pat poh). Am totally disappointed by...
Read moreYou wonder where you are heading when you take the access road to the hotel. It is one of Sandakan’s terraced rows of shops with accommodation above. The receptionist was welcoming and pleasant. |We had two interconnecting rooms, slightly different layouts, but very spacious. Bathrooms were well equipped with spacious showers and plenty of water pressure. Hand towels and bath towels supplied along with flip flops. Bedrooms are semi divided in some way so you may have a sitting area too. Ours had a partition towards the foot of the bed and it had a TV in it which swivelled so you could watch it in bed - showed thought. Plenty of space for storage and luggage. There was also a fridge. Bed was king sized and comfortable.|There is no restaurant and no lift, so pack wisely. We were heading to Sepilok in the morning, so had a late breakfast there. There is a big supermarket two minutes walk away and the town centre is about 12 mins drive. Whilst I wouldn’t wish to spend the week in the Gloria, it is clean and functional and has everything you need and was very clean for one or two nights. We...
