I booked a Deluxe Triple Room at OYO 90809 Oriental Hotel, Sarikei through Agoda hoping for a relaxing stay with my family but instead it turned into one of the most stressful and disappointing experiences we’ve ever had at a hotel.
• When we arrived around 5PM, the room wasn’t even cleaned! Trash was on the floor, the beds weren’t made, and we were told to wait for it to be cleaned because the cleaner “forgot.” • There was no television in the room, even though Agoda’s listing clearly showed one. When I asked, I got the excuse that this was “the last room” of that type—completely unfair and misleading. • No water heater provided unless requested—despite the hotel having plenty in storage. Why not prepare the room properly? • We had to request an iron, and the one they gave us was defective and had exposed wiring—my mother was slightly shocked! Very dangerous! • The room had a curtain over what we thought was a window with a view—but when we opened it, it just revealed a narrow lorong (gap between buildings) (shown in the picture). Completely misleading design.
The only good thing? Water pressure. That’s it. Everything else made us regret booking this hotel.
I feel horrible because I was the one who booked this for my family. Please be careful if you’re considering this place. It’s not...
Read moreWe traveled as a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) from Kuching to Sibu by car and decided to make a stop in Sarikei. We stayed in a Suite Family at this hotel, which was just nice for us. The room was spacious and had all the basic facilities we needed, including a TV, mini fridge, hot shower, and a small living space with a sofa for us to chill. The 2 big beds were comfortable, although one of the mattresses was a bit hard, but it was not a big issue for us. We were provided with 3 clean towels and 3 mini soaps.
It would be good if the hotel could provide an electric kettle in the room.
The rate of RM96 per night was a great deal, especially considering the quality of the room and facilities. The hotel also had 2 working desks, making it suitable for business travelers.
The check-in process was fast, and parking was convenient. We could park right in front of the hotel, which gave us ease of mind regarding security.
The hotel is located right in the middle of Sarikei town, so food eateries were all within walking distance. This was very convenient for us. We recommend this hotel to anyone...
Read moreComplaint Review: Disappointed with the Lack of Bidet/Hose
While the room was generally clean and well-kept, I was quite disappointed by a significant shortcoming in the bathroom facilities—there was no bidet or hose provided. As a frequent traveler, I consider this an essential feature for comfort and hygiene, especially for those who are used to such amenities.
Given the standard and price point of the hotel, I would have expected more attention to detail in catering to diverse guests’ needs. It’s surprising that something as basic as a bidet or hose was missing, which can make a huge difference in the guest experience.
I hope the management will consider adding these facilities in the future. Until then, I would not recommend this hotel to travelers who prioritize bathroom comfort and...
