My name is Dr Sharan Gendeh . On febuary 10th 2018 i made a booking under airbnb for Kanopi Villa and paid 455 ringgit . I thought that was ver steep price as i have done glamping in janda baik but thought i will give Malcom the host a beneft of a doubt . It was me and my 10 year old daughter . The package was an entire tent , 8 course BBQ and english breakfast . To my horror , first the tent was a simple one definitely not 350 ringgit worth ( if the bbq was 100 ringgit ) . Then my daughter kept on asking me when was the bbq being prepared and was horribly informed by the caretaker he did not know anything about a bbq and there was no food - he suggested to go into town for a meal which would have cost 10 ringgit . There 4 ladies and they had brought their bbq meat and after overhearing me making a call to the host Malcom with utter shock ( he said he would refund the dinner and did not offer anyway to get me and my daughter food ) and he slammed the phone on me . I was going to pack up and leave that night when the 4 ladies told me to stay and offered me and my daughter the bbq . The caretaker too was very nice . The morning was even more shocking as the caretaker could only make meehoon as he was not given enough funds to do more . Yup english breakfast for a meehoon of less than 5 ringgit . I have reported to airbnb , he has lied to airbnb stating he provided bbq . Malcom is not only a con man but also a cheater . If he had charged 100 ringgit to 150 ringgit a night with facilities of the bbq and others - is definitely fair . But to charge 455 ringgit with no bbq and english breafast and lying about it showes a bad quality person who thinks he can get away with it . Please dont get conned by him - if any chance he charges 100 ringgit then fine but this place is not worth more than that . I write this to warn people from getting conned by the host Malcom ( who was not present - he resides in Johore with his filipino wife and has a son around my daughters age - and yet he did not feel bad that there was no food for my daughter - she was horrified as we have been many places ) infact last year we did glamping at Farah Aina - that i will call value for money and sincerity of...
Read moreFirst time glamping and it was a good experience. Highly recommended. Great short getaway trip and is probably good for team building activities too.
The tent, bed and sheets were all very clean. They provide portable AC, hairdryer upon request and insect repellant trays. The room and place can get pretty cold at night around 22/23 so there’s not much need for AC then. It’s warm during the day but the communal kitchen was airy and probably out for activities anyway. Plenty of toilets with heaters and also clean with bathroom slippers. Shampoo and soap available.
Communal kitchen was also very clean and well equipped. Steamboat equipment and basic salt/sugar are available too. There’s also a Coway water dispenser and microwave.
Games or activities are also well maintained (ie ping pong, carrom, board games, karaoke machine, soft archery, bicycles, outdoor badminton). Though all of these are limited in the sense that only one of each are available except bicycles so may need to wait or share.
Service was amazing. Was greeted with a very kind staff (Balqis?) who made sure to let us know all the details, gave us a tour of the compound and even let us know when she was leaving the area. Definitely made the stay much more cheery. Keep it up!
Didnt have bbq but did do the campfire with marshmallow. Was very well worth it and the staff helped to set up and clean up. Was nice when the weather was rather cool at night.
Location was fine. Easy to find, relatively easy to access and roads in Janda Baik was surprisingly well maintained. Went with a sedan and all was good.
There is a river nearby that is also clean that you could visit and dip into. Accessible by foot or could grab a bicycle for it. Surrounding was quiet and felt safe.
Generally a very good experience. One thing that may affect the experience could be when the occupancy is high and perhaps some stuff may need to book in advance. The staff will message 3/4 days in advance to check on what additional activities or equipment needed, best to check then. We checked in on a Sunday night and only had another small group with us so it was very peaceful and most stuff were...
Read morewe spent a night here with my sister and my friend and it wholly exceeds my expectation and it was truly a memorable trip:)!
Booking: booking was smooth and there had been an error on my side in terms of the booking date (double booked the date with another event) and their management was very considerate enough to try to help us changed it to another date (please make sure the booked date is correct ya guys, don't be stupid like me T-T) The entire team was so welcoming and warm and kind esp Balqis ! (Kudos to Balqis who had also kindly noticed us and helped us to retrieve the ipad that we had accidentally left behind in our tent after check-out T-T.)
Location: it was just 1 hr away from shah alam and the roads there were well-managed :) 2 cars can easily pass through on alternate direction, there's a green bridge with a very beautiful river passing underneath that you mustn't miss.
Amenities: the Moghul tent (for 4 pax) was AWESOME! The lighting was on point (warm lights yesss!) and the bed was so comfy and cute! The plus point was that the beddings were scented with this very delicate and sweet scent that reminds me to my happy childhood! (must ask the glamping team what was that!) The entire compound was clean too esp the bathroom! So full of Ikea items if felt kinda luxx and we like it:))!!
Kitchen: there is a common area at the centre of the tent where we were allowed to cook and eat:) omg so refreshing, to be cooking next to the trees and on the open field, feels like i am in a cooking show hehe!
Common hall + activities: the breakfast were served in the common hall and it was delicious! The drinks were free flow and the kitchen has 3 bassinette too so you don't have to queue to use one:) Everything is so relaxing here! Esp the CATS!! Look out for the Mak Guard called Tam Tam the cute black brownish tabby!!
All in all its such a memorable stay! The movie nights, the pad kra pao dinner while cooking ala chef wan, the cool refreshing river, the cycling session in the kampung, the comfy bedss and the freshness of the nature! Thank you Canopy Villa ! IT was...
