Checked in, had to pay immediately which is unusual..small room for 2 and very very basic, a/c blowing smelly air on my head and immediately I felt it was going to be a difficult stay. ||Asked to be moved to what turned out to be the honeymoon suite. Again super-basic for 120rm extra per night but good size for elderly mum and I sharing a king bed (quilt was queen?). One towel each, no face towel, one floor mat. Aware that daily room clean is available but had read of things going missing for other visitors so abstained - no safe. No breakfast and no real facilities to cook for yourself. Really? Town is only a 5 minute drive but for every meal, it’s a big drag. We brought fruit back to our room as there is a little fridge. ||Room interior needs serious upgrade as it’s dark, dreary and a bit spooky at night. ||Some silly villa design features:|- open wardrobe in path of one bedside means you keep hitting your head on the hangers on the way to your side of the bed|- same bedside had no light of its’ own|- hardwood bed corners need to be marked so we don’t keep hitting our toes at night|- a shower curtain would stop the whole bathroom floor and toilet getting wet every time one has a shower|- the outdoor balcony steps are so steep and close to barrier that if you lost your footing in the poorly-lit outdoor area, you’d fall right over the balcony side.|- nowhere to put bath items needed when showering - a little shelf wd do.||Front desk staff are helpful where they are able to be, but place felt a bit lifeless, esp. as there is no communal eating area. No faulting the spectacular settings but forget dipping your feet in the water nearby let alone having a swim. Barbed wire and preventative rock embankments (newly installed according to my mum who visited at least twice before - 2011 and 2017) sully the desire to cool off or to really immerse yourself in the setting. To be fair, it is a natural spring that provides fresh water to the people of Taiping so won’t argue on that front. ||Saw monkeys, butterflies, snake-shaped fern, huge millipede, multivaried greenery.||This place has so much potential but it feels as if we are discouraged from enjoying the natural surrounds as much as we’d like…a bit ‘shut shop’. The really generous part of our stay was the jungle and it’s...
Read moreThe experience at the resort didn't live up to our expectations.
1/ a "resort" means a place with full-sized luxury facility with full-service accommodation. We really thought it's a resort based on how it looks on the internet. However, the room we had in the Sentosa "resort" is so so, equal to a 2 star hotel. Room is damp, quite dark, amenities are ancient old, weak wifi, the mattress smell and stained. We didn't even have a wardrobe. No breakfast! Why? There's not even a restaurant nearby and we paid over 200rm for a night here.
2/ from the staff's dressing, I can sense that this place is somewhat 'sustainable hospitality'. Where's the sustainability when they impact on the water stream flowing down from the mountain? Using non-local material around the stream, using plastic tooth brushes and plastic soap tubes. Anyways, the garden is pretty nice 👍
3/ as we checked out, we want to leave our backpacks for the receptionist in a while for a walk nearby, which is a normal thing tourists do right? The receptionist wanted us to leave the backpack on the bench near the common area because there is CCTV. We suggested to leave it in the reception room or next to her, which is safer. We wanted to leave our belongings to the staff, who we trust, not to the CCTV. In the end, we felt quite uncomfortable and just left.
Haizzz... So! If you plan to come here, lower your expectation a bit as the room and space in general are not like on the internet. If you have kids, want a place that they can run and yell, this...
Read moreThis was the official accomodation for the Party of 14, and it turned out to be a good choice after all..We checked in a bit late after 6pm on the first day , and didnt quite explore all the facilities available on the resort ground, until the next day.. We were given the chalet on the top floor of the double story deluxe villa, so I had to carry our luggages up a flight of external stairs which were quite narrow and steep. That was not much fun...😓 The timber building also uses a shiny timber flooring finish, which looked quite nice, but could also be slippery when wet..My wife had the most unfortunate accident where she slipped while getting dressed, right after her bath, with a loud bang!!..💥🗯😭😭..I was in the shower at the time, and didnt hear anything, but Im sure our dear neighbors one floor below would be wondering, what kind of sorcery we were practising!!🤭🤭🤣🤣 It was only on the next morning that we realized and noticed the flowing natural stream with cascading pools, located right next to our chalets!! The water was so cooling and refreshing, and we thoroughly enjoyed dipping ourselves in the water and taking lots of photos..😊🥳..we were told there was a nice restaurant previously operating further downstream, but it had been closed for business since the MCO. Even this resort has yet to open up their F&B facilities, which I feel is such a waste, as it would have made our stay even more pleasant and...
