There’s little if not no difference between this paid admission (RM2/adult) Taman Botani and the Taiping lake garden. Obviously the latter is the winner.
If you’ve been to Penang Botanical Garden, you’ll probably be greatly disappointed with this one.
The facade and the open compound near the bridge were impressive, the rest of the park was not well kept. We’re told the information brochure ‘habis’ (finished) when ask for one.
No fauna to be seen (not even a squirrel) while we spent 40mins exploring around the park in the morning hours.
The place is fairly clean and somewhat felt a bit eerie/ unsafe as we walked further away (the whole park was just me and my wife, and of course a few workers near the gate). Certain stretch of the trails (off tarred road) can be slippery and user unfriendly.

The park was nice, though. I just wish they had more intelligent management that takes into consideration that people who come here like peace and tranquility.
Interesting birds seen on our first visit: Lineated Barbet (1st photo), Racket-tailed Drongo, and Crimson-winged Woodpecker.
By the way, the Macaque in the second photo charged at my wife very aggressively. We were on the path and didn't provoke him at all. So beware if you take the left path after the bridge...
