PADI PADI HOTEL — Hotel in Perlis

Stayed at room 206 from 11-13 May 2023.

The Good: Fairly new hotel located at one corner of a row of shoplot. Room is spacious and quiet with comfortable bed. Room wifi is not strong but ok to use. Ample street side parking at 60cents/hour, Mon-Sat 8am-6pm. Can purchase parking coupons from hotel. Good location, about 15mins walk or 5 mins drive from city centre. Many eateries & cafes within walking distance from hotel. Fast & fuss-free check-in. Day receptionist, Wani, helpful & friendly. Water dispenser & ironing facility provided at common area on each floor. No cockroaches & no ants in my room. Also no sewage smell from toilet although the bathroom design is not completely covered.

The Not-So-Good: Bathroom has no shower curtain to separate shower from toilet, causing the whole bathroom area to be wet after shower. Bathroom has lots of stains/mold especially at the base of the inner bathroom door and under the sink area. Bedsheets had stains but otherwise they smell clean & fresh. Although mine was a non-smoking room, I could still smell smoke in the room likely due to inconsiderate guests smoking in their room & their smoke transferred via the vent or bathroom exhaust system. Suggest that smoke detector be installed in each room to deter smoking. Occasional very loud talking from inconsiderate guests from the lobby or common area. Wash basin had water flowing down very slowly due to clogged pipe; but housekeeping very helpful to try to fix issue. TV channels not stable due to faulty cable; hotel unable to solve this issue.

Cockroaches / Lipas! & Expensive

Cockroaches in room 212, not only in the bathroom but in the bedroom. My wife had one crawl on her arm in bed! Fortunately they moved our room and it was better.

Paid 118 MYR for a room and a terrible experience with cockroaches, you can’t expect to have that paying so much for a small town. Come on Kangar, you think tourists will want to come for small overpriced and cockroach infested rooms when you can get 10x better hotel rooms in other cities?

Sounds harsh, but this deserves 0 stars. The only reason I’m giving it two is because the staff were friendly and they did change our room.

In their defence they said it’s there fist time they’ve heard of the roaches and our next room didn’t have them. Hate leaving bad reviews but you can’t charge 118 MYR for a sleeping with cockroaches.

Now I have an unhappy wife, she said she didn’t trust this hotel - I said it would be fine, it wasn’t fine. Consider elsewhere unless you don’t mind roaches crawling near your ears in bed or around you in...

Booked last minute as I mistook my schedule, so I honestly had no expectations..For a budget hotel, the ambience is okay la decent enough..Good location, near the city & within walking distance to shops..Parking was surprisingly easy to find even though the area is packed with shops..

The downside, there’s no lift, so it’s not suitable if you’re bringing elderly..The room itself is small but manageable for a couple..TV, aircond & water heater worked fine..Cleanliness could definitely be improved..

Since it’s located near the main road, it can get noisy, but I personally dont mind. receptionist sempoi, enuf which I appreciated and ease the chexk in process..Exterior looks fine,but the interior could use some upgrading..
