The hotel is just OK for me. Should be 2.5 stars only from me. The hotel is not that great for a staycation. Decided to stay here to help revive the local hotel industry after the mco but I cannot keep the cons to myself. These are the list of things that I cannot tolerate at all about the room I stayed in :
Fridge not functioning well. Took more than 6 hours for it to cool the beverages we put in. Lots of ants (first hotel I stayed that have that many ants) on the snacks I brought despite closing all the lids of our food containers. Never experienced like this in a hotel before. No balcony light (they just use solar outdoor light that's not even functioning) Bed easily moved when we lean on the backboard due to slippery floor & there's no way to make it stay still. Found a used woman's underwear (probably from the previous tenants) at the corner of the bed. No face towels provided. Not strict on implementing SOP. Encounter a few people who attended a seminar there (probably officers from a government agency) that didnt even bother to wear masks. Got this one makcik that kinda have that Dato Vida appearance without a mask on that's so rude and impatient when taking food at breakfast buffet. She didnt follow the social distancing rule at all and stand very close to us while getting food. Felt like scolding her that time but didn't want to cause a fuss. Super annoyed with her too because she was so loud when talking with her friends at the table. Low class mentality.
A few things that kinda makes me a little annoyed with the hotel but can still manage. The outdated interior decor (like it's stuck in the mid 90s) Furniture and decorations looked very seasoned & ugly (certain spots of the wallpaper are damaged) Ugly, outdated and unmaintained landscape at the balcony area. Dirty and super dusty aircond vent grill. Certain parts of the room's wooden floor are damaged (like it's warped or crooked) Basic menus for breakfast buffet and most of the food are not even topped up. We went down at around 8.00am.
Anyways, I really want to keep supporting the local hotel businesses but I hope this hotel can really improve the conditions of their room. Their frontdesk staffs are really kind and helpful. Their pool is quite nice with beautiful nature surroundings. The hotel is also next to a beautiful hilly park with nice landscapes. I hope my room was the only one like that. I paid near to RM300/night including breakfast to stay on a weekday and to be honest the quality is far below my expectations. I want this hotel to return to it's glory days (back when it's owned and managed by Shang Ri La) Won't be coming back anytime soon but please improve your hotel quality for any...
Read moreI actually got married in this hotel, when it was still known as Shangri-la 4 years ago. So hubby and I decided to revisit the place to rest and relax during the lock down. Quite disappointed as everything has gone to shambles with this place. We took the hill view, paid to upgrade to the Mountain View. View wasn't disappointing, but everything else was. There was tons of red ants on the balcony, which made it extremely difficult to even stand outside for 5 minutes without being worried of getting bitten. Housekeeping was a mess! Only had coffee sachets, no tea the first day we checked in, every single day after that, they forgot to refill it. We stayed for 4 days 3 nights btw. Dunno what they are doing or thinking to be honest. Breakfast - western and nasi lemak was so sub-par, we really expected more from a 5 star hotel. Chicken rendang from the nasi lemak tasted like it was two or three days old, hard and chewy. Reception wise, there was a racist malay receptionist who actually questioned my hubby when he was picking up our grab food from the lobby on the last night, asking if he's a guest. I went back out and questioned her about this, and she said she thought he was an Indian guy who didn't give his breakfast request to the counter. What sort of nonsense is this, I have no idea. She judged him based on his race and appearance (he was wearing a very casual t-shirt and three quarter shorts). So every Indian person looks the same to her? Then can I say every Malay girl looks the same to me? For a five star hotel, do we need to dress up to show how rich we are, only then we will be respected is it? We could have afforded to spend 5 times more in a different hotel, but we wanted some peace and quiet, which is one of the only reasons we came back here, and of course to relive our previous good memories with Shangri-la. Also, we're down to earth people, we don't need to show off how much money we have. Unfortunately, this current management really sucks. Don't think I will ever return, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone. The lady really sealed the deal with her racism, in ensuring we will never return. She should be issued a warning letter for being so disgusting with her racist attitude. I didn't even bother talking or giving my feedback, as I just wanted to enjoy my last day without shouting at anyone. That would totally defeat the purpose of going on a vacation. Good bye pulse grand, definitely not returning. I'll cherish my memories of my wedding in Shangri-la through our videos and photos, but...
Read moreNice and grand looking hotel but upkeep is lagging and NOT professionally done, may be due to COVID-19 closure. We spent 2 night at this hotel. The room was spacious, comfortable but detail cleaning was NOT thorough as spider web and dust could be found inside the drink cabinet and carpet. Be forewarned after inserting your hotel card in your room the TV will automatically ON and the sound was quite loud, sound like a music theme from 'Avatar' the movie (Actually advert on the Hotel and surrounding attraction) that may frighten one whom is checking in at late night. They no longer serve buffet but only pre-ordered choice from menu set (A or B - Western or Local). We had the Bee Hoon Soup and Sausage on the first day and on the second day we had Beef Bacon and Nasi Lemak Ayam. The food was bland or tasteless (Bee Hoon Soup) and the Nasi Lemak looks like it's an over night food. The western food set was acceptable. Again, this may due to less crowd or guest. This hotel don't provide housekeeping for 2 night stay and will do housekeeping if 3 nights stay. Even with this less crowd or guest, we request for extra Body Shampoo, fresh bath towels and toilet rolls but the front desk (morning) forgot to ask housekeeping personnel to replenished them for us. But upon request from the night duty front desk personnel, he was fast and offered to fulfill our request. In a jiffy, they hv sent our items to our room with extra (complimentary drinking waters and tea & coffee sachets). A few great staff but unfortunately housekeeping team need to buff up on their cleaning and staff need to record down on hotel guest request so that they don't forget easily. The walkway especially the roofing need to be replaced to give protection from rain or strong sunshine to carpark. This is a need to be attended immediately. If well upkeep, staff re-training and improved food quality then this hotel may get back it's former grandeur, 5-star rating and be the top hotel in Wilayah and...
