Crystal Resort — Hotel in Sabah

First time visiting Semporna, Sabah. The islands in Semporna are very beautiful... After I surveyed several resorts, I finally chose Crystal Resort Semporna for this holiday destination..

I booked through Blue Star - Semporna Sabah Package... The agent named Sen was very friendly and answered all my questions. The agent will provide a list of hotels, packages, benefits and prices of each hotel so you can choose according to your budget and wishes. To get here I took a flight from KL - Tawau (about 2 hours 50 minutes) and then boarded a van managed by the agent to Semporna Town (about 1 hour 30 minutes journey).

This Crystal Resort was only completed in the last 4 months. So the condition of the resort is very good. The owner is also nice and friendly.

Date: 11-14 August 2022 (4 days 3 nights) Room type: Standard Room Booking platform: Agent Rate: RM1899/pax (included airport transfer, resort, meals (breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner), boat transfer, island tour (snorkeling at 8 islands), snorkeling equipment, guide during snorkeling and permit. Plane (MAS) ticket to Tawau within RM 700 return for one person.

CHECK IN: The agent took care of it. So check - in and paid a refundable deposit of RM 50

ROOM: The room is very spacious and comfortable. Sea view. The toilet is good. Water flow was good. Electricity is available 24/7 (please beware that there are resorts that don't provide electricity during the day). This resort is very quiet because there are only 14 rooms.

LOCATION: Location in the middle of the sea. 40 minutes from Semporna Jetty.

FACILITIES: You can swim in the resort area, kayak, snorkel (you could rent the snorkeling equipment here). There is also a spacious lounge for you to hang out.

DINING: The food was very good. We took the full board package so we didn't have to think about where to eat. Just in case, I also brought a cup because I was feeling hungry after snorkeling.

CHECK OUT: Most of the resorts in Semporna check out at 10 am. After checked out, we waited for the boat going straight to Semporna Town.

CONCLUSION: The islands in Semporna are very beautiful compared to any of the islands that I have been to. For the 4 days 3 nights package, the agent will take snorkeling and island tour such as Bohey Dulang, Mantabuan, Sibuan, Timba-Timba, Mataking, Pom Pom, Mabul and Kapalai. Warm and friendly staff were welcoming (shoutout to Kai & Pn. Yong!). Fewer number of chalets (and no day trippers) gives a rather private feel to the resort.

Persistent cooling breeze throughout the day and evening allowed for pleasant, relaxing lounging on the chalet balcony. A great place to just relax and unwind.

Family was delighted to see various fishes and sea creatures throughout the day and night - horseshoe crab ambling past the balcony, needlefish chasing down smaller fish as prey, etc.

Snorkeling @ on-site corals are not not the best, but were a good warm-up for later Island hopping excursions!

Boat ride distances: 20 mins from Semporna, 15 mins from undersea walking, 50 mins from Mabul / Kapalai

Gensets @ neighbour chalets are a little noisy, but only at night, and closing the balcony doors restores...

I stay here for 3D2N. This place was awesome, can see a lot of corals the time when we got down from the boat, the room is neat and tidy, every room got their own balcony which I really love it. Each meals are buffet style, got a lot of different dishes for us to choose, and all are delicious. The view there are also very breathtaking. Besides, the resort staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, always ready to assist with a smile. they made sure our stay was comfortable and memorable. The level of service provided was truly exceptional, and it added an extra touch of luxury to our vacation. The price here was relatively reasonable when compare to other famous water resort such as Mabul island and Kapalai, both of their rate for one night are incredibly high.
