🚫 MY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS RESORT 🚫 We stayed here for 2 nights, 3 days in August 2025 for a friend’s birthday. It was supposed to be special — it ended up being one headache after another. 1️⃣ The Ferry Fiasco They promised a 12:30 pm ferry. We arrived early, only to get a WhatsApp saying “low tide” delayed it to 1:30 pm. By 2 pm, we learned the truth: the ferry had broken down. A replacement only showed up at 3 pm. Nearly half a day wasted before we even arrived. 2️⃣ Injury Before We Even Settled In When we reached the room, the toilet water wasn’t working. No shower possible. One of us tried to cool off in the sea using the stairs — and instantly got a deep cut from broken barnacles/shells on the steps. We asked for a ferry to the mainland for a tetanus shot immediately. The hotel manager said they couldn’t arrange it directly — because bookings (including ferry boat transfers) go through the travel agents you booked with (ie. Agoda / Trip.com / Booking.com). The hotel had to contact our travel agent first, and the travel agent would then arrange the ferry. The ferry came two hours later. Our friend returned three hours after that — with fever and unable to swim for the rest of the trip. 3️⃣ Rooms & Facilities — Below Basic • “Smart” TV that isn’t smart — no Wi-Fi, too old for our USB stick with movies, and built-in movies didn’t work. • Dirty toilets, low water pressure, and pumps that only run 6 am–10 am & 3 pm–7 pm. Outside those hours? Get ready to flush multiple times or use a pail. • Frequent power cuts day and night — the resort runs on a generator. When occupancy is high, lights, fans, and anything electrical would suddenly stop. 4️⃣ The Food — Awful This was honestly the worst resort food I’ve had in Sabah. • Dishes were mainly fish, crab, vegetables, and occasional clams. Asking for eggs at dinner? Extra RM2. • Crabs were small, not cleaned properly, and difficult to eat. • Cooking so bad most guests left half their food untouched. We even bought fresh seafood from local Bajau fishermen and handed it to the kitchen — they still ruined it. There was a group of China tourists who bought two lobsters from the Bajau fishermen. They ate one and left the other untouched — I guess they also didn’t like the taste. On the second night, two of us got mild food poisoning right after dinner. We can’t prove the exact cause, but the timing spoke volumes. 5️⃣ The Ride Back The ferry back actually arrived on time — but halfway, the engine failed. A 30–40 min ride stretched to over 75 minutes. A fitting end to the trip. The Only Positive The staff were friendly and tried their best. Service attitude: 8/10. Physical resort: 3/10. 💡 Bottom Line: If I want broken ferries, unsafe facilities, filthy bathrooms, constant power cuts, inedible food, and the risk of injury or illness — I’ll love it here. If I had known better, I would have spent my money elsewhere in Semporna or Sabah.

1. Promised the boat at 12pm, then delayed to 1pm. Then at 1pm the boat guy was not contactable. Called resort they say boat already left and asked me to join next trip at 2pm. 2. Since i arrived 2pm++, lunch buffet already finished!!! Staff just smiled. Had to ask them, then only they prepared just 1 lauk for my rice. 3. For the resort facilities, i am speechless. i. Trashes all around, no staff or management team bordered to clean it up so sad. ii. Toilet amenities are provided but look at how its being presented to guest (campak2 je asal ada), at least susun la elok sikit. iii. Smells so bad in the toilet and also in the room. Had to keep the door open so i could breath. iv. Read a review about there are mice in here. How could this small land middle of the sea got mice? But Turned out i heard kids in room 14 shouted, then told their mum there's mouse. So that review is valid. If there are mice around, u can tell how dirty, unhygienic and improper this place is. v. Food is tasteless too. I am not exaggerating, im being honest based on my own experience here. Just hope no one else would spend thousand of ringgit for this poor experience. I spent RM1000+ for 1 night stay. Let the owner of this place appreciate our money by improving all aspects. Pls refer photos attached.

We had the pleasure of staying here for 4D3N. In a nutshell, we love this place, it’s ambience, the scenery, the room and the food. The manager was very polite and welcoming. The staff especially the restaurant and housekeeping were nice and helpful. We had one buffet lunch on our first day which was delicious and enough, the rest we were on a snorkeling trip and had packed lunches. Dinner at the restaurant was nice - for two people you get one medium fish, 2 small crabs, a plate of vegetables, watermelon and egg omelette. Rice and cordial, tea/coffee, snacks are unlimited. Room facilities were good, AC, comfy bed and pillows, water heater and toiletries. The only thing that needs improvement may be the water pressure but then, you cannot expect much being in the middle of the sea. We loved that we could just jump into the crystal clear water right from our room. In the morning, it was so peaceful just doing nothing but lounging in balcony watching the fishes and sometimes turtle. The sunset deck was superb with a swing and the view opens out to the ocean. We also had the opportunity to buy fresh lobsters, crabs and mantis prawns from the local Bajau fishermen at a fairly reasonable prices. Will we come back to this place? There is no reason not to.

We had an unpleasant experience while we’re staying at Nusakuya. To explain it briefly we had reached there quite late at night due to the agent arrangement was so slow enough. So there’s a delay for the boat transfer from the jetty to the resort. We had reached there at roughly 8pm and we had informed to our agents an early arrangement and request especially for the room and the special birthday dinner with the food Requested. But yet, we felt so disappointed that we had to experience the unpleasant experience. The room that we requested is supposed to be next to each other or maybe just a few unit different, but yet our room was given as Room 1 and Room 15 which it is totally unacceptable! We had requested it for a very long time before our arrival which I bet it’s more than a month planning and we always reminded or Agent name Oh Sempornaku Travel or OhhSem Travel about our decent request and it said that they will manage it. So, the dissatisfaction arouse so badly as we reached there at night and has been given the separate room which is 13 rooms gap. Does it even make sense? We need to walk here and there for numerous time to just get our cloths or basic amenities as we are coming in group and we shared most of the things. So it’s a total unacceptable for us. We did request for them to change our room and they even said we are unable to do that as we came late, they priorities a first come first serve basis which I bet it’s irrelevant. I felt very devastated, disappointed and frustrated that we had been treated like a beggar and they seems like not respected us at all as their beloved customers. Moving forward to their service and foods, their breakfast is very very basic, and the food are just the same for everyday with no variety. They need to improvised and make the foods more selections and please serve at least a different dish daily so to whomever that stays there for more than 2 nights can see the difference in the food that we had. The service staff is very good and I couldn’t complained more. They are giving their best to serve their customer and that is the only added point that makes me cools down and try to forgetting the unpleasant experiences that we had. The bad experience doesn’t just stop there, we had been asked to moved our room from Double room and triple room for only triple room. Triple room with 5 persons, just imagine. We are okay but how bad is the management with just 15 units that they had, they’re even unable to rearrange the guests and the booking accordingly? Just a soft reminder to whoever that planning to stay at Nusakuya, just bare in mind to make you arrangement clear as to avoid any inconvenience causes happened and please if you’re dealing with an agent, make sure you make a wise decision with the agent that you choose, you might ends up facing an unpleasant holiday experience like us as we choose a wrong agent, Ohh Sempornaku Travel @ Ohhsem Travel which we believed they’re famous and well known enough but with what experienced that we faced, it just way too different from what we expected it to be. I hope Nusakuya can really upgrade their management and the way their manage their limited units and please upgrade the facilities in the rooms especially the toilet, the Room 1 rain shower doesn’t even functioning and we need to take shower using pile. The main door at Room 15 is hard to closed and opened and I hope that they can fixed this issue so that the future guest can get a pleasant experience staying with Nusakuya. We had an unpleasant experience while we’re staying at Nusakuya. 🚫 MY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH THIS RESORT 🚫

We stayed here for 2 nights, 3 days in August 2025 for a friend’s birthday.
